Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

I always said it would be a cold day in you know the metaphor before I agreed to come here, and mighty cold it was that day. Which leaves me perfectly happy in summer. But not as happy working a trade show in New Orleans in June. Sure the show is inside, but everyone's needed to get all the $tuff unloaded and inside. That kind of heat is wicked.
It is still "cool" in June in South Louisiana. August is when the heat kicks in.

I can't wear anything wool. I get itchy and hives. If I was ever tortured all they would need to do was to put a wool sweater on me, I and I would divulge any and all secrets that I know.:woot:

Yesterday (Saturday) I was outside for several hours raking and blowing leaves. I had on shorts, a t-shirt, and a sweatshirt It was 42 degrees F outside. I was warm as toast. I saw neighbors on walks bundled up like they were trekking across the Antarctica. When it get's 80 degrees and humid here in Michigan, it sucks the life out of me and it takes extreme effort just to cut the grass without passing out.

I don't get hives but I do get itchy from wool, I once bought a wool Navy uniform top, it was just big enough for me to get it on and I loved the way it looked so I wore it like a shirt for a gig one night, first and LAST time I ever wore it.

Layers keep the chill out. The cold in Ireland is legendary. Even the Romans said the place is too cold and wet. I imagine the cold on Sitka isn't so brutal.

Chicago is the hardest sustained cold I've experienced, but rural Kansas and Fargo get top billing too.
The so-called Japanese Current is a water current that flows from the warm Pacific waters off of Japan throughout SE Alaska including Sitka, and it keeps our weather fairly temperate. Think green old growth trees, muskeg, and fairly moderate winters. But @Morrighan you have given me a good Christmas idea-- maybe a cute shawl for Carey for Christmas!

I recently saw a PPS program about the tribes of Alaska. Can’t remember the name of it... I love this type of programming. Kudos to you!

How about a shawl kit. She can make her own, maybe even go on to sell them on the internet.

...I had made a connection with a nice young lass ..... we sat on the couch ..... She had a very soft pink sweater on because it was a bit chilly. ..... and I fell asleep--her laying against me ..... I remember feeling that warm, soft, comforting pink sweater against me all night. ..... I'll never forget that warm, soft, pink sweater. She ..... never met my soulmate..... Still to this day it makes me smile.

But March 2021 will be 34 years Carey and I together!
Nice story, Will. :) :D
