I didn't get my wife the Pi plate, because I got us vet plates and we never get pulled over now. They actually charge us more for a vet plate here Oldest brother was awarded a bronze star and Illinois gave him a plate to reflect that. Here his only option is a vet plate, which he declined. With a vet plate in IN you have to kill someone to get pulled over, and even then it's just a verbal warning

Okay, so it rained a lot down here again. . What gets me is that a man driving home to get to his family, as the waters rise, and is forced to ditch his vehicle (sometimes by cops) in the water is then charged $500 by the towing company (called by said police) to get his (maybe flooded useless vehicle) out. I know this bull spit happens everywhere but when a person has had his home flooded and his vehicle taken away recovery seems far away.
NO, it ain't me! But it is happening to people close by-- when the towing companies are asked about price they talk about water recovery cost and tell people they will get reimbursed by their insurance company--this never happens. ALL STATE INSURANCE DIDN'T PAY CLAIMS AFTER KATRINA OR RITA AND HAD THE NERVE TO SPONSOR THE SUPERDOME.
you will hear of the community joining together to help one another, and it is true neighbor to neighbor--- but some of our neighbors have bought rights to screw people in the worse way.

Going back a couple weeks to fiber (the optical kind) they put in a big fiber network here, getting service (so they claim) out to the under-served part of the state. They connected to schools and libraries (public ones only) and purport that "someone" will be willing to do local connections; The mythical "last mile providers." I work for a (non-profit) private school library, it's 0.7 mile down the street to the "community access point" and I can't get anyone to even give me a price to connect to it (much less a reasonable price - but I can't even get an unreasonable price.) I put fiber all over our campus several years back, and that connects to ... the cable company at yawn-tastic speeds. There's another (non-profit) private school a half-mile or so beyond us, too.

Infrastructure, nobody seems to want to build it.

Ha, they released the remaining funds of the porculus bill this year, probably to the states to divvy out to localities I'd guess. All year they've been ripping out perfectly good roads here and replacing them with roads divided by flower gardens and putting up deco street lamps. Meanwhile your area can't get a decent Internet connection and fnords friends are literally underwater and can't get any relief. I can't turn left to enter the closest grocery store without using 4WD to cut through the garden, so I have to go up another block to a new stop light on about the only road I've never seen an accident on around here, then go left and drive back the block, but through the grocers parking lot to get to the rive up pharmacy. Oh, here in the ghetto they won't run my damned fiber because there might not be enough biz. They promised running it to everyone in town before they branched out. My brother has it out of town and his home owners association charges him a large monthly fee to cover the bribe to run fiber out there... 5 miles out of town. I think about everyone has it now but my area. They also took on other cities in IN after they said they woud complete my town first. What's a GOF to do? Grrrrrrr

Okay, a little update on my knee replacement surgery. It's been almost five weeks since the slice n' dice and I'm doing pretty good. The good news first: I'm walking without a cane, up and down stairs normally (not one at a time), driving my brother's Mustang GT and working on my daughter's latest release on Free Trade Records.
Now the bad news. The pain is mostly manageable, EXCEPT, every night between two and three a.m. I get woken by the almost worse pain of all. Yeah I have the pain pills but I hate taking them as it takes a heavy dose to control the pain. After I finally get up later and ice it, I'm all set for the day. I just had to vent here because all in all this is the only problem in a basically super fast and easy recovery.

As for the knee fairy, it took a lot of convincing for the doctor to let me take my old knee home and it was a little messy putting it under my pillow, but the SOB left me a Telecaster thinline! I don't want no stinking guitar! So I called Jerry, that's the knee fairy, and said why no bass, I wanted a P-bass? And he tells me basses are his brother Bernie the HIP fairie's gig.
