I thought Monday is washing day?

Today is Blue Monday, which is supposed to be the most depressing day of the year. The term was coined by a British travel agency to sell holidays. Like Earth Day (selling shoes), and Valentines a corporate marketing ploy.

Here's a GOF cheer.

You won't believe me but....
I had a bit of a problem with Toyah back in the day.....

She was, for want of a better phrase, after me bits 'n pieces.....:wideyed:

Wife was NOT amused.....Ended up very messily and I was entirely innocent!....

All the very best tales begin with It started innocently enough ...

(no one will ever believe me about the nurses uniform shop)

My grandmother owned, and used, a washer with a wringer. It's kind of cringeworthy.

Those machines are still available. They clean really well. Some places that wash cars have wringer washers, great for wringing out wash cloths. Unlike some modern washers that use hardly any water. They're right up there with low water volume toilets.

I think I've heard this story before but it sort starts to fall apart when you get to point, "....and then a pirate jumped out of the toilet...".
It's absolutely true.....

Toyah had converted the upstairs of an old warehouse in Battersea to a rehearsal studio....

Called it "Mayhem Studio".....

Downstairs and across the street from her, was an undertakers yard.....Coffins piled up even on the pavement.....

So...she nicked one and put it in the studio.....Claimed she slept in it....She didn't....

Incidentally, for those who remember him, it was the same funeral yard that Dick Emerey was stolen from......

After a two-stage archaeological excavation of my bedroom, I found my DD-214! I knew that sucker was somewhere in there. :D I've recently learned that it is fairly standard procedure for companies to force employees off of their group health care plans when said employees qualify for Medicare (I'll turn 65 on the 30th). My employer is doing this (and paying my Medicare premium in a roundabout way), so I was thinking that I'd need a Medicare supplement plan. After conversing with two brothers at church today who have been relying solely on the VA for their health care for years, I discovered that a supplement policy isn't necessary for us. We have an excellent VA hospital in the town where I work. Almost cured me of my grumps... ;)
I used to carry Medigap, but a rep at USAA turned me on to Humana's Honor PPO. It's designed for vets who get their primary care through the VA like I do. My disability rating is only 30%, so I'm in tier 2, but I've never had a problem getting any kind of service or appointment. I'm not only saving the >$200/month I was spending on Medigap, but I'm also getting something like a $50/month rebate on my Part B Social Security deduction, so I wound up saving almost $300/month. Worth a check-out.
