They used varispeed on a number of songs. Sometimes they would tune down so that it would be in the correct key when speed up to normal pitch. Harrison couldn't play the 12 string riff at normal speed in Help as an example. In My Life had piano recorded at half speed, at full speed it sounded like a harpsicord. There were also differences in some mono and stereo versions of the same song. Speed can also be changed during mastering once it leaves the studio.
