Well, then, Laugh-In-ites

It is a weekend morning in the physical therapy unit at rehab. The weekday cheery television fare has given way to a Laugh-In DVD collection infomercial. Or something. Lots of "memorable" clips, interspersed with suggestions of the joy of ownership ....

Do you remember Laugh-In? the PT asks. A somewhat disingenuous question to ask of someone recovering from bilateral knee replacements ... and my reply follow these lines:

I am the invited guest — in my capacity as a representative of my newspaper — in the home of Jo Anne Worley. As I open my mouth to say hello and introduce myself, she shoves a biscuit in before I can say a word.

I like the composition.

Serious question. The horns sound cents low in tuning. It's like they aren't where they should be to my ears. Is it simply my lack of jazz appreciation?

They are in tune but there is some crunch in the voicings. In measure 11 beat 1 there is an F (1st) against an Eb (2nd). On the "and of 2" there is a C (2nd) against a Bb (3rd). There is quite a bit of crunch in those 16th note figures.

Here you go:

Post a WAV or MP3 of the Notion playback.

The sounds in Finale are good for drums, percussion including mallet instruments, basses, keyboards, and some of the guitars. Horns, not so much but the t-bone is pretty good. I'm using the Garritan library.

OK. Imported into Notion just fine. Of course, none of your instruments/sounds were available, so I need to map Notion instruments. Which horns did you intend for Parts 1, 2 and 3?

OK, this is my response to @spiritbass ...

Neons are are actually easier to raise than Cardinals. Of primary importance is PH and temperature. A PH of 7.0 or less and a temp of 72F degrees plus is best.

Both require aged water (nothing out of the tap without dichlorination and cycled (30 to 60 days) before introducing them to an aquarium.

I don't get the comparison of a Dodge Neon to the St Louis Cardinals. Oh, sorry, I went off topic didn't I?

Also look at the chord in the last measure of the tune on the piano/vibes part. That one is crunchy!

For me TAB seems more complicated than learning to read standard notation and figure out what fingerings work for me. There are two staves to read with TAB - fingerings and the notation for rhythmic info and other stuff. Then what someone decided on fingerings might not work for someone else. Not knocking it. If it works for you and has you playing music, go for it!

TAB has never ever worked for me even a little bit. But as always, vive la difference. ;)

The warbling vibraphone helps make a recording when everything is brought in. Love that sort of complex background wash.
