Out in the country, road signs are used for target practice.

I used to pass by a penitentiary on the way to the beach. They never had a sign like this. It was common for people to thumb a ride when they had day jobs. I wondered if lonely women drove along that road.

Only in Oz. I wonder how they get the animals to stay within the 2km zone.

A modern MG GT — a car built to 2021 standards, and with 2021 reliability — is absolutely my perfect dream car. Wilton carpets yes.

In my imagination I'm holding something like a re-engineered from the chassis up MG GT like ... like as if VAG suddenly gave us the Scirocco that should have been. A modern MG GT with enough moves to keep pace with a 718 Cayman, and enough space to be my gigmobile.

Nice MG! That's the only color for that car.

I rode a good portion of it on Epic Journey 2012 in early June. Exit I-40 west of Ash Fork, AZ to Seligman, Kingman, Oatman, Needles, CA, Goffs, Essex, Amboy. Pretty long mostly continuous stretch of 66. It was pretty toasty getting into the Mojave Desert. From Amboy I rode to Twenty Nine Palms. It was well over 100 and felt like I had a hair dryer in my face at times.

Between Amboy and Twenty Nine Palms. I should have arranged a support vehicle like the group in the second pic.

Funny you should say that. I was going to include the following in my original post, but decided not to. So, here goes.

The road from Carefree down into Scottsdale is Pima Rd. North of Pinnacle Peak Rd., it's DARK. There's a low area in the road about a quarter of a mile long up by Legend Trail. 57 year old rich white dude in his BLACK Porsche decided he didn't like waiting on the cars in front of him, so he started passing them. At night. In the pitch black. In his black car. He got into the low area, managed to pass the first two of three cars, then managed to head-on a Scottsdale dump truck that had not yet entered the low area. The truck and driver were pretty much undamaged, but the Porsche ended up about 3-4 feet in length. That dead dude became part of the wreck.

Like Neal Peart said, "we're all immortal...for a limited time".

I have a motorcycle bud who decided the several cars in front of him were going too slow. He passed them, then the Jeep at the head of the line turned left. He got lucky - banged up and a broken wrist, totaled the bike.

Yeah, running through the desert can be pretty toasty that time of year. MG's weren't designed for that type of heat and were prone to overheating. I added an oil cooler to mine to help with that.

I installed really loud horns on my bike (1970's) because I wanted to be heard. Scared the life out some that cut me off without seeing me.
