WNCR and WMMS did so all the time back in the century and almost a half.
Change the decor, your wife will love you that much more for considering such things.
An old friend of mine had one in white back in the late '70s, but will never admit to that for some strange unknown reason.

Speaking of Iron Butterfly, we saw them circa 1981 at a small club in Sikeston, MO where we lived. We were the first ones there. Doug Ingle came over and talked to us about a half hour. Really nice guy. Married with kids and was painting houses for a living. Lee Dorman was late so they started without him. Different guitar and drummer. Hokey Smokes they were loud! I took the In-a-Gadda-Da-Vida album cover and they all signed it.
bobyoung53 - I like your avatar. I've thought about decorating a wall in our sunroom with 5-6 of those but my wife will probably say the color clashes with the decor, and that I'm an idiot.
I used to store them on my father's porch which is where I took the picture, they're now decorating a storage space. I used one head and two cabs regularly until the early 2000's. The last time I took out two cabs and a head for an outside gig was maybe 5 years ago and one of the guitarists was crying that it was too loud before I even turned them on. There's a member here who owns I don't know how many of them, 20-30, could probably decorate every wall of your house with them. I have one of the heads out here in Lima, I dragged it here on a plane, of course I haven't used it now for several years.
Hey Jeff, remember the late night simulcasts with MTV? You could watch a concert on TV and listen in stereo from WMMS. Man, you could pickup a pizza and assorted refreshments and enjoy a great concert from your living room.

I remember watching Devo on Saturday Night for the first time, had never heard of them, I was feeling rather strange that night, don't remember why
, but they came on and did Satisfaction and I asked myself if they were real they were so strange. ANOTHER Hagstrom and this one is just like my buddies!

A little happy update. It's actually a first world problem. As some of you may remember, I've been on a quest to find the Ibanez SR1200L VNF I stupidly sold a few years back. Well, I found another one last year and had it shipped over from UK. It arrived in excellent condition except for one thing-- it was shiny on the neck and the body from extensive use. Mind you, the bass was in pristine condition otherwise.
Well I sought all kinds of suggestions on TB and finally pulled the trigger and bought some 2000 grit sandpaper from Amazon. The package arrived with 20 pieces of sandpaper, going up to 3000 and down to 1000. The 3000 didn't take down the shine, neither did the 2500. Finally the 2000 did knock off most of the shine, and I'm now a happy camper. The bass feels much nice without someone else's hand rub all over it... ugh. There are a few stubborn shiny spots that I'm going to try 1500 grit this weekend but I'll try it somewhere it won't be seen. I know it's a small thing but I'm much happier playing the bass now that I got most of the 'shiny' offa it....
It got down to 19 degrees up the hill where we live but clouded over last night, so now it's back to a balmy 35 degrees. Carey has been mopey since Shadow our dog died and a friend who's retiring from work has a 14 pound poodle mix that's a real sweetheart that she has to get rid of due to her husband's health. So we might take the dog for a test drive this weekend. Other than that the usual winter cleanup of all the junk we bought from Amazon through the dark nights this winter!

Nice bass! Did the seller sell it at a discount since it is strung backwards or are the strings correct but the bass is backwards?
Just kiddin', of course....
BTW, there are a lot of lefty bassists playing with the E string at the bottom, probably from learning bass on a flipped over RH bass.
