From Wednesday night's jazz gig. A bunch of old farts playing old fart music. I shoulda stood.

I can't wait to get my cataract fixed so I can see the mistakes i make as I go along instead of editing most of my posts 50 times.
Premiered the original tune "Private Eye" at school last night. Well received! The director didn't stop us or make any faces while we played so I take that as acceptable note choices. I might make the coda slightly longer. The tenor player said it seemed too short.
With the instrumentation the parts will probably work like this:
1st part - trumpet, alto1 with bari or tbone doubling an octave down
2nd part - tenor1, alto2
3rd parts - tenor2, tbone or bari
I originally had guitar doubling the melody but no guitar this time.
Love this group, tons of fun! A diverse mix of traditional students and adults. Four adults this time - me, alto sax, tenor, and another bass player that I'm working with. The tenor player and I are charter members of the group since 2003.
Our drummer came back! He's a student and has played in this group for several semesters. It's apparent that he works on his craft.

The Wolf sat after his kidney failure. Before that he would run, jump, crawl and even climb a stage curtain! He sat when I played with him. But oh man, he could still sing!
bobyoung53 - I like your avatar. I've thought about decorating a wall in our sunroom with 5-6 of those but my wife will probably say the color clashes with the decor, and that I'm an idiot. 
Does that really fix that? Hmmm... I somehow doubt it. But, I really needa get to my eye doctor, 'cause he's semi-retired and keeps postponing my appointment!! It was a year and a half ago he said I'd probably need the surgeries "soon". He used to do 6 or 7 surgeries over a lunch hour! But, since having his own cataracts removed, he doesn't do them anymore. He just does the exams, and very thoroughly and enjoyably, too. I'm afraid he's gonna fully retire before I can get to see him again, and I don't wanna see anybody else. (sigh)

It's great to have an outlet like that available.
Mr right eye is so bad it's like looking through a cloud, it affects my other eye which was fixed several years ago. I never got glasses as it would have been a waste of money and I didn't expect to have to wait this long to get the other one done, Covid stopped all surgery out here. 65 and older everything's free out here but the medical system is overrun now with Covid. I'm probably going to have to pay for it at a private clinic, that's what I did with my other one, it was about $1000.00. I use reading glasses now but you know, I'd probably be better off with an eye patch on my right eye.

I've seen him many times. And the first time I met him I said how nice it was to meet Heywood Banks. He called me Rob Reiner!
Then he signed my cd to my wife and me..."to Rob and Amy"
That looks just like a Hagstrom a drummer buddy of mine owned when i was a kid, I loved that thing. His had two pickups, no vibrato and had red vinyl on it which I thought was the height of cool. It had a very thin neck which I also liked.
He looks like a very distinguished gentleman who could give me lessons.
