They don't need me to open their walnuts. The smaller macaws can exert about 1200 PSI with their beaks. The bigger ones get up over 2000. The hyacinth gets in-shell macadamias as a large part of his diet. Our smallest birds get in-shell almonds.

As a kid I had a lot of experience using a shelling machine to crack pecans, walnuts, and chestnuts against a barn door (think of the machine with two tires that NFL teams use to throw footballs at practice....same principal) so I'm curious; how long does it take your birds to open those nuts and get to the meat?

As an example...hand an English walnut to a macaw. The bird squeezes once, crushing the shell, and starts picking the meat out with the end of his beak. Pecans? The shell will be gone before you pull your hand back. Same with filberts. A smaller bird like an amazon needs maybe 5 seconds to get into an almond.

It's not as complicated as you'd think. It's divided into interconnected sections. The wiring is what's called point-to-point. And yes, it's a rat's nest. You sometimes have to remove several components to replace one. Repairs can be complicated. But the TV repair guy liked it that way.

In those crazy hopped-up days of youthful folly, it's all the brightest strings I can find. Here in the future some senior citizen likes her rounds to be flats

Yet at some point decided I wanted / needed brighter rounds that aren't Chromes. Restrung with Dunlop flats. And they certainly broke in nicely. At the time I installed those, I'd no idea there would be another bass (soon).

The Acinonyx ships with D'Addario nickel rounds. As I take stock of my position of visibility within the MTftBP cohort, I see finishing out the course on rounds is responsible. Since I work on my technique ... and want some harmonics (but not one of those fretwrap woozies, I don't tap) yeh rounds. I've a set of Balanced Nickels, and a set of Pressurewounds. Probably the Balanced Nickels ....

Which means I can go back to the Low Tension Flats on the Chowny. Except I've a mild aversion to reinstalling old strings. The Dunlops stay for now.

I really like these on the PBass.

Looks nice and compact. It isn't unusual for me to have to revise boards more than once. I'm wondering about trying a different PCB production plant. They offer a LOT of board options, free shipping on first order for five boards, 4"X4", two layer, $2USD. PCB Prototype & PCB Fabrication Manufacturer - JLCPCB

BTW, Mouser decided to substitute my Grayhill switches from solder tab to PCB pin. They didn't ask. First time that's happened. Returning them would take too much of my time. I'll keep the switches and do a breakout board.

FWIW, the Tribute Fallout basses (I keep adding 'basses' because Fallout is the body style of a line of their 6-stringers) come with D'Addario nickel rounds.

Be sure to read the fine print, it's not at all unusual for some of these econoboard vendors to co-opt your design for free sharing by default. And once you hit the option list prices usually tend to skyrocket. One more confounding factor is very slow shipping from "over there" right now unless you pony up. JL has a good reputation in the DIY community though. OSH is great for small stuff but if you need bigger boards that's not their game at all.

That board is 1.8" by 1.08". I could go much smaller, but this one is meant for easy modding and relatively curse free building.

I love tapes. I'd have them on the semi-hollowbody now but for the flats. Took me a lifetime to come around to tapes and flats. Were I in need of another bass, a G&L Fallout would fit the bill. Maybe change that to "when" instead of "were" ... what I don't have, and very few people here have, are gigs. My "gig" is playing into an inexpensive DAW for the camera. Not even guaranteed of an audience of one Odin. "Oh yes, Odin, I am a musician," I say as if I've my office done up like an espresso bar to tell stuffed toys "why yes, I'm a writer".

I used Dean Markley Blue Steel for a long time then switched to Dean Markley groundwounds on the Pbass then they stopped making them. I tried one set of the Fender flatwounds but they were just so-so for me. With the change to the EMG pickup it might be worth revisiting some of those strings.

I once swore by Dean Markley Super Rounds, and none could convince me otherwise. None but I, it turns out. First they stopped making them. Then Dean Markley stopped making strings with silks. That put me off. The Super Rounds wore gold silks IIRC. Looked sharper to me on my Ray than the red silks on the Rotos that chewed my fingers and my frets haha only serious.

Turns out with my <air quotes> career <air quotes> firmly in my rear view mirror, I started playing closer to the neck. And looking for all those things that a Ray isn't exactly known for. When a string change isn't enough .... NBD somewhere

Two day shipping. Taking your design is pretty serious.

Your board is sized pretty much the same as a 9V battery.
