I am in the process of trying to revive an HP ZV5000 which is an Win XP machine. I have a bunch of auto repair manuals that won't work on anything later than that (or so I've been told unless it is a virtual environment).Did my one mile walk/jog, cooled off, made a cappuccino, made two backup copies of stuff on the computer (in addition to the Norton 360 backup).
Pondered buying a new PC. This one is 8 yrs old. It's an I5-8GB but fast enough for most stuff, and never had a problem with it. Hard to justify $1200+ when there is nothing wrong with what I have. Might spend 100 bucks to double the memory to 16GB.
The HDD failed and fortunately there are still places refurbishing them out there. It is cheaper than a new machine which would not work for my purposes anyway. Wish me luck.
