Fireplace fires are banned where I live for environmental reasons. There’s always the fireplace channel and a space heater to huddle around. Unlike Coke, it isn’t the real thing. Then again, neither is diet Coke.

The weather channel doesn’t have much of a track record for accurately predicting the weather. Today they said that it was snowing. Looking out the window, the sky was blue and the sun was out.

Weather guessers.

You could put a speaker in it like our fireplace has. :smug:

Okay, listen up jazzheads! This is a most special video that must be watched by all. :bassist:

Reading several TB weather posts this morning means I'm effectively an old person. Except I haven't written a weather post today. I'm excused from class!

They have an interesting web site as you scroll down the main page. Home - Ticonderoga

Ethan Allen and Benedict Arnold fought the British to capture Fort Ticonderoga in Vermont. While at it they crossed the water and raided Quebec to steal supplies. They only had fountain pens so a pencil company was founded. That company was later sold to the Italians, F.I.L.A.

Both Lakes Champlain and Memphremagog border on Vermont and Quebec and are nice places to visit. We used to summer in North Hero, an island in Lake Champlain.

North Hero, Vermont - Wikipedia

I wouldn’t go there today, seems that they have a snowstorm warning.

Alerts: North Hero, Vermont: Grand Isle - The Weather Network

The movie White Christmas was set in Vermont but filmed on a set somewhere else. There was too much snow in Vermont.

Almost in the geographic center of the state. I reside in a valley about a mile and a half from the old Muddy MO.
No flood threat, just a little slice of heaven in the sticks. My closest neighbors are squirrels, deer, raccoons, possums, and on occasion, the random armadillo. :) I rarely see fox on my property, but they're around...

The AR and MO Ozarks are some of my favorite scooter riding places.

Lack of recognition for that battle is one of the things that led Benedict Arnold to become a traitor.

There is another interesting historic place on the north end of Champlain - Ft Montgomery. It was also known as "Ft Blunder". There was a bad survey that located the new fort on the Canadian side of the border. The story I saw on "How the States Got Their Shapes" is the guys who surveyed the site were inebriated. Construction was started then abandoned when the survey error was found.

I got the impression that the fort was undermanned by the brits. The green man of Vermont didn’t have much of a fight on their home turf. The incursion into Quebec was more like a panty raid. They snuck in and took supplies, cannons and a boat. A lot of interesting history. Each time they told the story, things got exaggerated. Col Arnold might have lost some credibility which put him off.

Although you'd think with a 50/50 shot they'd get it right more than half the time. It's an interesting profession where it takes everything from computers to satellites in order to do worse than flipping a coin.
