I find myself admiring that bass from across the room. It has some figure that is only visible in certain light. Sounds good, looks good, plays good. Too bad I don't.
I do that with mine, too! Even the back side looks good. The flame maple on the yellow Carvin looks 3D like those 3D image things you had as a kid that would change when you moved them. The name of that device escapes me.
Bass Player in the early days included "Sound Pages" with lesson material to go with an article.

It wasn't Viewmaster. The kid's rings and other stuff had fine parallel groves that would flip the image when you moved it.
View Master is a registered product name, in general I always called them stereoscopes.

Is it legal to keep a microscope, a stereoscope, and a telescope in the same house? Is it even ethical? What about binoculars? Monocles? Cancel culture is so confusing.
I used to use a dissecting microscope. It’s no longer considered ethical to operate on rats unless it can be justified before a board.
Not if you are looking in the windows across the street.
It is still ethical to dissect rat finks.
OMG!!! We have stereoscope, a telescope, and several binoculars, here! Do eye glasses count, too? How about kinetoscopes?

Ran some errands - Bought a copy of TurboTax, picked up some drugs, bought windshield wiper blades for the Corvette.
Installed TurboTax and entered the tax stuff.
I need a break!

One trade name for this process was Prizmatic.
Often used on retail packaging today, it appears as a photo with a heavy plastic overlay containing parallel ridges, akin to a record's surface, but more pronounced, and straight, not curved. Like a perfectly spaced set of ridgelines with equal slopes on both sides of each peak.
In its original version, different images were applied to the surface of opposite slopes, so when viewed from one vantage point the image was different than what was observed from a different angle. This limited the technique to two images. Later instances benefited from more developed practices, which allowed a third, composite image to be viewed from straight on.
Correcting the shortfalls of this method led to a matrixed printing method and an actual prizm quality overlay which displayed 5~7 different images, which could be completely unrelated, or similar like animation cells. Pivoting the photo, or changing your viewing point revealed the images.
ETA: This is a concept similar to flip-flop in the auto painting world, that is, color changes when viewed from a different angle, sometimes called "chameleon" finish.
