While reading one of the articles written after Jerry Garcia's passing I came across a quote of his that really resonated with me. Paraphrasing, he said that whenever he saw someone who looked like an adult he automatically assumed they were older than he was. I realized that I was the same way. Still am.

Jerry also said something about if he'd known he was going to live so long he'd have taken better care of himself. I doubt it.

I don't recall Jerry ever said anything to me, personally, but sure felt that he did

IDK if he was the first to say that, but I live by that now. (2* bad knees, getting teeth made, bit of arthritis, other things not working well, etc.)

Other than getting kicked out, my life at age 18 didn't differ too much from my life at age 17. Either I had done something wrong at age 18. Or I had done something right at age 17

I see by the calendar on my smrtphn I'm about due to ring my gyn for my annual appointment. And need to ring my orthopedic surgeon for an eval for round two of the subtalar joint fusion procedure. And so on.

Several years before my father died at 75 I asked him when he thought of himself, how old did he think of himself as being. He replied, "Oh, about 27," which is the age he was when I, the first-born, arrived. Don't know what all that means, but I've always thought as though I were in my 20s or 30s too.

I'd like to think of myself as 20ish. However, the evidence points to something more like 12.

It’s been twelve years and my mattress is doing my back in, time for a new one. I started looking online and am confounded by the myriad of options. Buying a mattress didn’t used to be this difficult. There’s an array of foam ones, some have cooling because foam can be hot. Then there’s hybrid ones, foam and who knows what. Then at the bottom of the page there’s the traditional type. They lead me to believe that they don’t sell many of that type anymore. Prices are all over the place.

I’m told that memory foam can get really hot which I don’t want. My current one is a firm S&F mattress with a topper built in. They say that firm is not good if you sleep on your side. It apparently prevents proper back alignment.


Has anyone found nirvana when it comes to a comfortable mattress?
