Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

Several years before my father died at 75 I asked him when he thought of himself, how old did he think of himself as being. He replied, "Oh, about 27," which is the age he was when I, the first-born, arrived. Don't know what all that means, but I've always thought as though I were in my 20s or 30s too.
To this day, nearly every dream I have, I'm only in my 20s in the dream.

I've got to the age where I don't like my photo taken. Strange how it seems that only a few years ago it was no problem.
:atoz:

So unhappy I was making videos for our MTftBP cohort that the first few were passworded, and later, deleted. It was a big leap for me to be able to view myself with my bass — having always taken care to be on the other end of the camera. From there to posting pictures, and video here, has been an entirely different level for me. From Friday's video

The topper I used some few years ago works really well. I found it physically more difficult to get out of bed, it being so bouncy. I suffer from WTB (Warm, Toasty Bed) Syndrome anyway, so on the whole it didn't make life any easier.
The mattress can be flipped but being as old as it is, the center kinda sags(then again, so does my center). But it's a helluva lot less $ than a new mattress, even though they're "ON SALE!!!" every weekend.

Crazy weather. Frozen solid two weeks ago. Thunderstorms Thu night, misting rain and fog Fri and Sat. The sun was out off and on today with brief rain. It was up to 74 today ahead of the cold front with high humidity. 20 degrees cooler on the backside of the front. Front just passed us and temps have dropped to the upper 60s going to low 40s early AM. We have a severe t-storm watch until this evening. "Hail the size of canned hams"

One of the schoolteachers' pieces of wisdom I still remember was the claim that most adults feel the center of their life to be something around 18.

At best I could imagine this for me holding as pertaining to the non-advancement of some of knowledge:

Emil Cioran said:
What I know at sixty, I knew as well at twenty. Forty years of a long, a superfluous, labor of verification.

Otherwise, I actually feel older than my numerical age

Thanks, I’ll check it out.

So far I like the Tempur-Pedic. The Tempur-Breeze claims to be 8 degrees cooler than some other model. The price is just nuts though. I’ve delayed getting it out of spite.
We have a basic model Tempur-Pedic that's probably going on 20 years old now. It was the only thing that gave me the back support I needed when we bought it. Time to replace it is soon, but we have a plan to build our new place and move there in 2-3 years, so I am trying to hold out. No sense moving the heavy thing.

Liking in support, of course. I remember being just out of high school and hearing a climate scientist tell what the weather would be like in 40 years. I thought he was nuts, but what he said stuck with me. It's now about 40 years later, and danged if he was not right. :meh:

Sorry, this may be drifting too close to politics. If so, I shall say no more on the subject.

It's not politics, but facts. Rocks are hard, water's wet. Scientists have been saying for a long, long time that if we continued down the road we're on, we're going to get where we're headed. My 9th grade Earth Sciences teacher warned us what could happen over 50 years ago, and he was right.
