Re missing food: In my last job there were two women who were famous for eating other folks lunches. Whenever a bunch of us decided to order a pizza or something we'd go around the office to see who wanted in. They always declined. But... they always managed to hang around the lunch room to try and scarf up any leftovers. One when confronted offered $1. She was refused. If you left anything remotely edible in the fridge it would disappear by the next day.

One of them, if it was a "Bagel Thursday" would fill up a bag with bagels and take them home.

One more re pranks/furniture moving: Three of us were working on a project with a looming deadline. One guy was a slacker and a major suck up/brownnoser to the boss. As the deadline approached, two of us worked late into the night while the other guy went home at the normal quitting time. About 1 or 2 AM, me and the other guy decided to empty the slacker's office. We moved everything down to the last scrap of paper into an empty office that was off the beaten path. Next morning when he came in he was dumbfounded and tried to find out what was going on. We did our Sgt. Shultz impersonations with straight faces and suggested that his office was going to be painted. He went to the office manager to see what was up but she didn't know a thing. Later on she asked us if we did it and we Shultz'ed again except with BIG smiles on our faces. She knew what was up and was cool about it. In fact, she liked it. The slacker ended up moving his stuff back by himself. No one would help him.

During a night shift a guy was sitting in the middle of the workfloor sitting on a desk chair. I'm surprised he was able to sleep with all the noise going on.
I have been witness to a man on a construction crew fall asleep at the controls of a steamroller - parked, thank goodness - in between dump truck deliveries of asphalt, which he was rolling out (when awake), while all around us was a hellacious noise of construction; trucks, air tools, sheet metal being pounded with hammers, on and on. I took a bit of video of the snoozy steamroller, with the notion to lay in a twinkly lullaby under it as a soundtrack, but later decided not to. For all I know, the guy could have been working three jobs, and was more exhausted than lazy. So, I erred on the side of not being accidentally cruel.

Oh, I have been thoroughly pranked at work.
An old newspaper man I know will gladly tell the story of his days as a copy boy at a certain daily in a major city that had buildings on opposite sides of the street, connected by an overhead catwalk. It seems one of the editors had recently acquired a then-new-to-the-States VW Beetle, and was very proud of it indeed, perhaps to the mild irritation of some of the staff.

Thus was born a conspiracy among a group of strapping young lads for whom manhandling such a small car would be an easy errand. Soon enough, they stole into the parking lot late in their shift, got into the editor's unlocked Beetle, put the stick in "N," released the brake, and rolled the car into the freight elevator usually reserved for massive rolls of paper. Up it went, until they were on the floor with the aforementioned catwalk, which is where they left the car.

As for moving furniture, there is a legend at my old high school of an elderly English teacher who was vexed to the point of tears one morning at being unable to locate her classroom on the long hallway where it usually was. After she went to the principal's office to seek help, it was found that some pranksters had slid one of the huge banks of lockers along the wall until it covered up the door into the classroom. After that, all the banks of lockers were bolted into the cinder block walls.

I should note for the record that this allegedly occurred well before your humble correspondent became a student at said school. I did have a couple of classes with that teacher, and found her to be a very sweet and kind lady, who cared deeply for her students (almost to a fault). I would never have approved of, nor participated in, any prank that would have taken advantage of her good nature. :cautious:

During class in high school, 2 students were talking among each other.

Teacher screamed: "Laatste bank! Buiten!" (Bench in the back! Outside!)

The two guy opened the window, picked up the bench an threw it outside.
We were on the second floor.

I would also like to state that I wasn't one of those students.

Well... they couldn't have been busted for disobedience, at least! :roflmao:

Not long-legged enough for a NY to Paris run. Gotta pass on this one.

People fly small single engine aircraft over the pond, there are gas stations along the way. Typically you depart Ireland, set down in Iceland or Greenland, then on to North America. It depends on the speed and number of passengers. Very doable with a plane that can cover over 3500km with four passengers.

Yes, but, I think I would rather keep both of my feet on the ground here, in the U
S of A...;).

Ya mean the ones that are not me???

Shasta caravans had wings. They would fly down the highway.

NY to London in 1.5 hours. LA to NY in 1 hour.

Thank you, science, for making it possible to spend more time in line for takeoff than the total air time from Boston to Dublin. Time on the ground in which the FAs are not permitted to leave their bench-hard jump seats, nor am I permitted to use the head until we're at cruising altitude. By the time we're airborne the queue for the loo may not complete before the return to seats bell comes on.
