Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

Some Sunday's start well...

I received a cell call "unknown caller" while I was in line at a car wash today. I never answer the phone anyway. Reverse lookup the number when I got home, it turns out it was bank security. Called them and was told that I went to two gas stations.

Yes, big brother. The first station was pumping slow. This can happen when their tank is low, it could mean that there is water mixed in with the fuel in their tank and it's being pumped into my vehicle. I then went to another station, bought some more gas and a car wash. Apparently visiting two gas stations flagged an alert.

Very good work but why they made me sit on hold for half an hour to find this out is beyond me. They gave their standard covid get out of jail response.

Thor, the 18-year-old Siberian cat, left at the end of November. I used flower essences to help with his transition.
Very interesting ideas at the link. I think most anyone who has spent quality time with an animal knows that they sense/perceive the world in much deeper ways that most of us can. I couldn't help but be reminded of acupuncture meridians and Kirlian photography (which is probably more of a corona discharge capture than projection of soul/life force). It was also a great example of how little medical science and the pharmaceutical industry actually knows about the true essence of life.

The filter or lens through which you choose to view life can be very limiting or open up all kinds of possibilities. Over the years I've discovered that my scientific and engineering underpinnings are more useful in dealing with material problems (like aircraft, automobiles, etc.) and often close to useless when it comes to really understanding life itself.

Most of human knowledge is weighted toward humans.

WooHoo! Electrical troubles fixed! I bought a circuit tracer to find where the wiring ran. Worked like a champ and paid for itself today. Tone & Probe PRO Kit - VDV500-820 | Klein Tools - For Professionals since 1857

I disconnected the circuit at the breaker, hooked up the tracer, then it kept saying "continuity good" and wouldn't tone. Read the instructions (gasp!). If there is anything less than 10K resistance it does continuity. Found I had to unplug everything that had a standby mode or any kind of internal circuit that could be seen, like computer, stereo stuff, power strip. Then it worked like a champ. Traced wiring in the attic and every branch went into a wall. Okay, has to be something in an outlet/switch box. Used the tracer to poke around. Ended up in a 3 gang switch box in the kitchen. A switch there was controlling the outlet in question. What the? Three outlets in two different rooms on that switch, two of them I knew about. Okay, bad switch. Flip the breakers (two circuits in that box. Jumper out the switch and now the outlets are completely dead. What the? Turn on both breakers and had power but still low. I had put a dimmer on a light in the kitchen a few days before I did the stereo stuff. Then it got even more weird. When I worked the dimmer the voltage on the outlets changed. What the? The feed to the one switch and the outlets was taken AFTER the original 3-way switch now dimmer. BOTH switches had to be on for the outlets to work. Geez. That electrician had some really good drugs! There is no reason for any of those outlets to be on a switch much less two in another room.

Anyways, moved the feed for the outlets to the other circuit in the box and disconnected the unneeded switch. All good!

At one point in the evolution of human knowledge the earth was the center of the universe and it turns out we're not even the center of anything from a solar perspective. It's also noteworthy that mankind has long believed that we are the only intelligent life in the universe...which, arrogance aside, begs the question based on probability alone of how intelligent we actually are.

I've often wondered how many entities out there (or even on this planet) are also interested in finding signs of intelligent life and simply passed us up for not being even close to fitting that definition. There was a 2002 movie called The Mothman Prophecies with Richard Gere which was loosely based around some actual events. The scenes where Gere's character consults with Alexander Leek are very thought-provoking beyond the key role they play in the film.

A dog just wants to be your best friend and asks for very little in return.
Just cheese.

My dog lived a very happy life for over 21 years.

You look very familiar! :D

That electrician had some really good drugs!
I think that same electrician has been to my house.

Imagine how many people got uncorked when they learned that! :roflmao:

Did it feature the legendary bass?

All is well that ends well. I sure do hope that your property insurance company doesn't mine this.

At this moment Odin is curled up with his head on my pillow.

This is the outcome that began at o'god o'clock when I woke for bio. Returned to find a certain dog with his head on my pillow. Come morning Odin's asleep on the floor directly below me. I take coffee, turn around, and a certain dog is sleeping with his head on my pillow.

It's laundry day anyway
I have no problem living with dog hair. Goes with the territory. Except for one place. My pillow. It goes in the closet when not in use, or it becomes a throne for my little guys. The last thing I need after finally getting down and comfy is eyes and a mouth full of dog hair.

Je passe.
