I saw one of these sheep dogs today. The dog was having a grand time covered in mud. Not sure how they clean him.
Samoyed dogs are pretty much self cleaning. Their fur repels dirt, a simple brushing cleans dirt out.
I see one at the dog park. This is covered in mud.
Below is the same dog. A dry and a light brushing and they look like this. They have two layers of fur, a soft short wool undercoat and long outer coat. They shed a lot but you don't need to bath them.

I've been thinking about putting my wife's cat in the closet for the very same reason. Trouble is, divorce lawyers are expensive

Not unless it was medically necessary. Buzz cuts just aren't a Shepherd thing IME including with the high and tight handlers of military working dogs.

This is what a working breed German Shepherd (my dog) looks like and below that is the level of attention/focus they need to be able to muster on any given task (no matter how mundane):
Yeah sounds like you won the lottery on electricians. One of the switches is a three way switch which means power can flow in either position. When you installed the dimmer, witch is just a potentiometer, you reduced the power flow through the entire circuit. Like you, why they would have two switches in different rooms, controlling outlets is a head scratcher. Best bet, is a remodel, with electrical, done by a brother in law, or not updated to match new walls etc. that may also explain switches not controlling anything. Good luck.
I saw a German Shepherd running full speed down a long rough ice covered path. Seemed to be after some squirrels way down there. It passed a big Great Dane which was galloping flat out. I don't think that I've ever seen a dog run that quickly. He was bounding and just touched down, mostly he was flying. I can't see that anyone would have a chance if his goal was to catch you.
That's exactly what I thought. The dog looked like a big mop.

This standard poodle cured me of a lifetime of cats, and bless him for that

They install fresh velcro four times a year. That's for when he gets back from his spa day and velcos himself tome for a week.
