Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

Very interesting ideas at the link. I think most anyone who has spent quality time with an animal knows that they sense/perceive the world in much deeper ways that most of us can. I couldn't help but be reminded of acupuncture meridians and Kirlian photography (which is probably more of a corona discharge capture than projection of soul/life force). It was also a great example of how little medical science and the pharmaceutical industry actually knows about the true essence of life.

The filter or lens through which you choose to view life can be very limiting or open up all kinds of possibilities. Over the years I've discovered that my scientific and engineering underpinnings are more useful in dealing with material problems (like aircraft, automobiles, etc.) and often close to useless when it comes to really understanding life itself.

The "transition" flower essence arrived in the post on the day of Thor's transition. He asked to go outside and didn't return. Coyote, perhaps, or something took care of the remains. I like to think Thor didn't want me to have to see him. At the time, I was still in a boot from the surgery. Still a little conflicted as I also know he was trying to get home and couldn't. Don't know what the truth is in that, beyond I didn't mount a search mission.

What is subjectively true is Odin showed zero interest in the "grief" flower essence. Thor is not high on Odin's "missed" list. When the cleaning lady comes in (like a few minutes ago), Odin is practically jumping out of his skin in excitement. He doesn't do that for me, I say :roflmao: The flower essence Odin does like, and asks for more, is one I use

Cain't help but pull for Villanova...in memory of the late, Great Big East.
My only connection with the Big East was Monday night buckets on ESPN back in the '90s. A doubleheader if I remember correctly. That was some TERRIFIC basketball. Very competitive. I haven't enjoyed basketball that much since.

I was at a DePaul-Georgetown game at the Rosemont Horizon in metro Chicago, when I overheard one guy ask another what a "Hoya" was. His friend's answer? A "Hoya" is what's waiting for you in your hotel room after the game.

I don't know what a "Hoya" really is, but that answer has always defined it for me. :roflmao:

You'd think that they'd know better than to eat at fast food places.

One thing I always found hilarious was seeing the owner/driver of one of those 6-figure cars self-pumping cheap, unbranded gas into it. I spent 10 years in the oil industry. As bad as some of that was, I learned to NEVER buy garbage (unbranded) gas. I'll spare you the details, but there are several good reasons.

So, I hold my nose, close my eyes, wrap both hands around my credit card, and buy branded gas.

"Flame grilled"=burned to tasteless. Their fish sammich used to be 'OK', but I haven't had one in ~10 years.

Not even a grumpy cat would eat their fish.

Yeah sounds like you won the lottery on electricians. One of the switches is a three way switch which means power can flow in either position. When you installed the dimmer, witch is just a potentiometer, you reduced the power flow through the entire circuit. Like you, why they would have two switches in different rooms, controlling outlets is a head scratcher. Best bet, is a remodel, with electrical, done by a brother in law, or not updated to match new walls etc. that may also explain switches not controlling anything. Good luck.

It was only 10 years old when we bought it and no evidence of alterations. Paint overspray in the boxes and wiring for example. I'm thinking a mistake was made in the wiring but that doesn't explain the switch with three outlets. lol.

If we ever sell the house, I'll have to write a story about the electrical stuff to save the the new owners some troubles.

Yes, and I don't know why but unbranded stations seem to be shut down more often. I believe the branded ones have better maintenance, even though they seem to be regulated by the same authority. Maybe it's just me...

Some animals prefer to go out into the woods to rest when they know that their time is near. Like you said, a last gesture of kindness to spare you the grief.

One of our neighbours had one, too, though a cabriolet. Was nice to ride shotgun with him :D

Usually it is not advised to drive sports cars on most Indian roads :sorry: Also, if you go downtown, parking roadside... on finally returning you will find a flock of youngsters talking selfies with your car in the background.

Maybe posting them will increase their chances in online dating

My wife and I had that experience in Leadville, CO. We were in the Corvette and stopped for lunch. We looked out the window and a guy was standing next to the car with his wife taking a picture. lol. New business opportunity - Pictures with a Corvette $5.

With covid and all, I always wear a glove when pumping gas. Pay more for quality gas.

Hardest rain I've ever the pleasure of navigating was one Friday afternoon eastbound on Route 2 from McAllen, Texas, to the Harlingen International Airport.

Funny old thing how north-south travel times are longer than east-west travel times. Takes longer from Chicago to Harlingen than from Chicago to Seattle. What it feels like from here is those runs were altogether rougher. The easy run is Chicago - New York. Newark International is :vomit: but it's a darn sight preferable to LaGuardia :vomit::vomit::vomit: It's just ... do the New York thing ... everybody now, it's just a step to the ramp

Speaking of pumping gas. On a motorcycle trip, I stopped in Las Vegas (no, not that one, the one in NM) to take a break. A guy pulls up in a Corvette, left the drivers door open (this will be important later), starts pumping gas, then walks into the store. About the time he came out, gas was shooting out of the side of the car. The nozzle didn't shut off. He starts yelling and runs to the car, grabs the nozzle, starts spinning around, gas is shooting everywhere, more yelling. The drivers door? Yeah, well he managed to spray gas inside the car, too. It finally stopped then he started yelling at the clerk saying it was his fault, yada yada. He got in the car and tore out of the station. Well, you shouldn't have left it unattended! I kinda sided with the clerk until he told me they had been having problems with that nozzle not shutting off. Okay...you knew it was broken for awhile but it hasn't been fixed or put out of order? Geez.

I somehow manage to see a lot of weird stuff on my trips.

Here are some travel tips:

- Driving with the sun in your face in the early morning or late afternoon is a problem. In the mornings only travel west. In the afternoons, only travel east.
- Time zone changes and jet lag can be a problem. To avoid this, only travel north and south.

I have other travel tips like this but I can't promise they will be this good.

A local distributor in the country has a large tank farm. They add additives and blend their products there. I've seen their trucks delivering to top tier rated stations as well as bargain stations. They have their own stations and they don't carry top tier gas there. I wonder what you are really getting. What controls are in place so that when they deliver to Esso for instance, it is top tier. I wouldn't put it past a station owner to buy a lower quality product for the sake of profit. I know that Shell tanker trucks deliver to Shell stations directly from their refinery.
