I saw a German Shepherd running full speed down a long rough ice covered path. Seemed to be after some squirrels way down there. It passed a big Great Dane which was galloping flat out. I don't think that I've ever seen a dog run that quickly. He was bounding and just touched down, mostly he was flying. I can't see that anyone would have a chance if his goal was to catch you.

Not only are they quick and very determined, but once they latch on to you (if that's their job) you are going to hurt a lot!

The Sable or Agouti German Shepherds have a coat that is reminiscent of a wolf. As far as they know the gene is just related to their coat color, but I find these dogs to have have a much higher drive and need to work than the more show-coat breeds. They also have a straighter/less sloped back that is a big deal for show dogs, but tends to contribute to hip, knee, and spine problems later in life. As always though, mileage varies!

I think most anyone who has spent quality time with an animal knows that they sense/perceive the world in much deeper ways that most of us can.

This is a highly complex topic Starting with a human-animal dichotomy being questionable, to say the least.

As for the physical aspects, it is easy to see how chordata follow the same basic patterns. With other deuterostomia it requires a bit more of anatomical knowledge.

Sensual experience depends on both physical and psycho-social aspects. I'd not even be sure there were universal capabilities shared by all humans. Yet, there is quite something to be learned from others, be they animal or human.

My dad ordered one of the first series Golfs somewhen in 74/75 (of course, they paid all their stuff from the petty cash ). It was an orangeish yellow with fir green leather seats. Didn't look as bad as I had expected But it wasn't particularly comfy, and the engine for later standards would have been weakish.

Someone in my parking garage had an early 50's Merc sitting unused for maybe 10 years. They eventually put a for sale sign on it, $200. The car was a work of art. One of those things in life that I regret passing on.

She has to turn the engine off to be heard to order takeout coffee on the way to work. She can't reach the window from the driver's seat to get the coffee. A Ferrari does not care for a 15 minute commute with many traffic lights, she learns. The car needs to be opened up ... and that is not without its attendant risks.

Here in the future, she's more or less decided she hates cars. But she concedes to a Mercedes-Benz SLC. And I have to admit, she has taste in cars, once she picked me up for some sort of goofball luncheon thing in a Porsche 356 cabriolet. That was a fun ride.

I tried to fake it once by buying a '74 Karmann Ghia (coupe) ..., frog green, rusty as hell. I took the bumpers off, got out the Bondo, and had a great time with it for a few years. Somethin' about it. I looked pretty good in it, too!

"Flame grilled"=burned to tasteless. Their fish sammich used to be 'OK', but I haven't had one in ~10 years.

Same here. My wife is such a great cook that there is little need to go out, although she does need a break occasionally from the kitchen. For fast food we do Chick-fil-A sometimes, only breakfast McMuffins and filet of fish at McD's and a few and far between Taco Bell.
For more of a restaurant experience, (when there were still such places), Outback, Red Lobster and a couple of independent locals are our choices. I really wish we could go out...perhaps soon .
