Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

All my life I always had one--maybe two basses and maybe an electric guitar. Once I quit touring professionally, as I got older, my income allowed me to start a bass collection. I've finally hit the ceiling of my Ibanez collection. I have six, two which could use some work. I love my older Ibanez SR1200L VNF hippie sandwich bass and since Ibanez doesn't make any more leftys above that bass, I'm considering myself done with buying basses.

Besides, at 69, my one local friend guitar player is not much younger than me and has had a hip replacement and another one coming up. He's basically retired. I have nice amps, two PA's, and various guitar and bass amps. All dressed up and nowhere to play! I wish I had this stuff 35 years ago. But it is what it is....

EDIT: I've decided I'm going to donate my old Peavey 'silverfins' combos to the Salvation Army. Nowadays they're very heavy and although I can lift them, I'd rather not. I might donate the two basses that need work too. Time to share what I've been blessed with I think.

Cool. I've given away some stuff, too. The Frisco School of Music in Frisco, TX let us use their facilities for free for a couple of years to host a community jazz group. The piano player in the group taught at the school. I donated my Ampeg B50R to them as a way of saying thanks.

I had a DOD 12ch mixer with case, SAE power amp, and misc stuff I gave to a couple of guys who were gigging and could make use of the equipment.

I had a few folks do things for me, sometimes unexpected, and I pay it forward when I can.

If you used the toilets at CBGB in the 80s you are immune to everything.

In the middle ages, people cut a cross in the base of brussels spouts to let the [Invalid or Expired Link Removed].

That won't work because brussels sprouts are the demon!

I tried them...once. Oh, look, little cabbages! Oh, geez, what is that horrible taste...mommy make it stop!

Speaking of horrible taste...My mom made liver and onions...once.

Mine didn't get there until January '45 with the 89th Inf. Div. Was a colonel's driver, then a scout. As a driver, they lived in a chateau they'd taken back from the bad guys, with a cook, wine cellar and fully-stocked larder. He said he'd never before or since eaten so well. That didn't last long, and as a scout they were roaming far and wide. Captured a lot of Germans at the end. He said he only fired his rifle seven times, and that three of those were at deer. But I think he was slathering a bunch of lipstick on the pig, because his was one of the units that liberated Ohrdruf concentration camp. He never told us that part until he mentioned that he saw footage of it on the History Channel 20-odd years ago. What?!? You liberated...?!? Why didn't...?!? I get it now. He only ever talked about good things he'd seen and done over there.
Can't fault him for not talking about the bad stuff.
Being that my folks were in Poland during the war they experienced some really rough stuff. I can't imagine how they managed to continue on with their lives. I have a feeling that it would have just devastated me.

The fix for any vegetable is melted butter and salt.
I like 'em broiled and a little charred.

Great source of fiber! Wife loves them too. $1 a package (frozen).

We both like liver and onions too every so often.

The "projects" at Cabrini-Green are all gone now. The death knell for them came after the new White Sox stadium was built on the parking lot of Comiskey Field and then the old stadium was torn down to become the parking lot for the new stadium. The new fields seating is very steep, goes quite high for a baseball stadium, and a large swath of it was facing, and in direct line-of-sight of, the upper floors of the projects.
Gentrification of the area had already been planned and initiated in measured steps. Random bullet holes, appearing in the new seats, convinced the powers that be to put the pedal to the metal to avert any possible "newsworthy" event.
Those were the Robert Taylor Homes. Cabrini-Green was around Division, just east of 90/94. They also cleared another project to build the United Center across the street from the old Chicago Stadium. There were times I paid more for car protection than I did for the ticket to get in to a Blackhawks game. But car protection was worth it. You got to park along the sidewalk, paid one guy $20 to watch your car, and then drive over the sidewalk and out into the street after the game instead of getting stuck in the parking lot snake, trying to get out. I was home before most peeps were out of the lot.

I tolerate Brussel Sprouts, but I love Liver and onions. Unfortunately, (in the true spirit of GOF) it causes my Gout to flare up!!:bawl:
Oh geeze, a couple of years ago my former cardiologist was trying to solve an issue with me, and put me on a medication which has gout listed as one of the side effects. The joint in the right big toe. Oh man, what pain. I quit taking the heart pill, and my primary care doc put me on allopurinol to help with the gout. It took about a year to clear up. I have enough aches and pains as it is, and I sure didn't need a pill to give me another one.

Yikes, which med? My uncle suffered from gout and seriously I don't want it. I've had two heart attacks and a double bypass and am on a raft of meds... I'd seriously like to know which one (or class) did it... PM me if you prefer privacy. :D
