It is warm enough here still that they are still flying around in the garage.. but the nights are starting to cool down a tad.. i don't like real hot, i don't like real cold.. if i had anything to do with climate change.. it would be around 55 at night and change to 70 in the daytime, then it would change to around 50-55 at night.. and change back to 70-75 during the day!

55 to 70 is perfect for me. Doesn't exist for long. I seek temperature stability. I can't stand the extremes here. Hate Summer, hate winter. Ready to live on an island. A bit warmer than I'd like, but usually about the same so adjustment is at least possible.

We'll get plenty of that. Won't be "my" Island, just a small part of it. I'd rather have a 3 month rainy season than winter and the typhoons just liven things up a bit. There are some islands for sale in the Phils, but no CATV!

OMG, we have drivers from all over the world here. This semester alone I had to stop twice in one day to avoid a head-on with someone going the wrong direction, and another day, the same car crossed the solid white line in a curve into my lane, both close calls, but the second curve I was ready for her. Too bad she wasn't to my left where I have a rusting fender. The near head ons were actually on the same trip, one big assed dually on a one way street, the a large construction van in my left turning lane. I guess he decided since there is no left turn from his side of the street it was best to use the opposing left turn only lane. That one was close, because I was going to make the left behind him and, of course, no blinkey lights. After he turned into the wrong way of a one way ally, I finally got to wait for traffic to clear and go left :-\ And those were all Gringo's! I have to avoid an accident at least once a day now. It used to be about once a week.

Oh great, I was just about to enjoy a cool down here and you remind me that the snowbirds are arriving. Time to surround my vehicle with old tires again and say a prayer when leaving the house.

I like the tire idea.

Every vehical I've owned and driven regularly here has been rear ended at least once. Had a conversion van that got rear ended twice, side swiped once and the front end backed into once by someone who had dark purple wrinkled plastic on their back window.

Lovely...

Both the wife and I drive 4 dr pickups, mainly as a self defense measure against other drivers. I've ALWAYS needed a larger vehicle to carry gear, pull a band trailer, whatever, but after the population explosion from the latest oil boom and a few other matters, simply don't trust our lives in anything short of a full sized truck when everyone else is driving the same thing or bigger, usually very poorly.

FWIW: some yrs back had a blowout in in 01 Explorer sport doing 75...thing left roadway, flipped and rolled 3 times, bouncing once on the roof, once on nose corner, once on passenger side. All glass blew out, amps, guitars, and stuff strew down I20, gtr cases busted open, and and I walked out of the hospital next morning...had to cut the remainder of the door off, remainder of my clothes, etc...but THAT was a well built truck.

Seat belts do indeed save lives

Today I procrastinate pre-winter lawn care. Need to give the grass a military hair cut, seed some areas and cut down roses and stuff like that.

On the bright side, have some industrial round-up like concentrate. I nuked my front lawn a few weeks ago to reset and reseed. Had to get the huge pdf and find out how long before reseed. I found a whole chapter on "Chemical mowing." It seems you can mix it just right to stunt the growth of grass, kill weeds, then optionally mow it nice and even a a week later. I need to do some serious mathamgics since it has to be accurate and the formulas are for different types of grass, certain distances from trees and shrubs and it's all based on acreage. I need to experiment, but I could mow 2 or 3 times a year if I get it down! Or kill it all and paint it green.
