Now I take pictures of important stuff like....guess I'll have to look at the pictures.

The lady who gave me my second Covid vaccination injection took a picture (with her phone) of her vaccination record card in the event that she misplaced it. The way things are shaping up, these may fall into the category of 'important stuff'. I took yesterday off of work in case I got gnarly side-effects, but I did not. My only problem was broken sleep caused by waking myself when I rolled over onto the injection site. The soreness at the site went away more quickly than it did the first time.

A personal copy of your medical record would concern me. Especially with no official chain of custody. Where I went they had some rules posted. That included no selfies and no cameras out of respect for everyone's privacy.

Similar to my old photographic world where what I saw on the groundglass (usually plastic, actually) was rotated 180º. I always loved it when someone asked if they could have a look to see the "picture/movie" I was making.
Love it!

My dad's side gig was photography and darkroom work. He used all sorts of cameras, but always came back to his Rolleiflex 120 roll-film TLR's. He owned a fancy prismatic viewfinder, but when we went out to shoot rallies and motocross races for fun, he preferred the folding, everything-is-backwards regular viewfinder.

Thanks to the miracles of a larger film plane, fixed optics and decades of experience, he could repeatably capture perfect shots of flying motorcycles in mid-air. My struggles to match his results with a good 35mm SLR and long lenses were instructive...

Oh, in that case, Never Mind. I did the same, then I stored the scanned image on an encrypted disk. I always worry that I'll forget the password.

Doing the same with mine and the wife's, along with scans on the computer. Also, Staples in our area is offering free laminations so I will do that as well. Waited long enough for this moment and don't want to lose it...way more important than a selfie ;).

It is also recorded on your medical insurance if you are insured. I see it plain as day on my explanation of benefits section of my insurance,

I wonder if people are getting extra vaccine shots just for good luck. One dose gives you 80% efficacy, two gives you a higher %, why not top it up to 100%

I received a letter from the government yesterday inviting me to get a covid vaccination. Either their records are incorrect or the letter went to everyone over a certain age.

People that have both vaccines and still get covid are called breakthrough cases.

While I squeaked elsewhere about vaccinations very quietly .... pleases me not at all to share my biometrics with border guards. Any LE functionary, really. That I may be clear, I'm not squeaking about this meme about "vaccine passports". Absolutely zero to do with all the noise in the Interwebz pipes.

I find it good practice to give nothing more than absolutely required to any branch of LE. No different to me than good personal hygiene. It is good personal hygiene. And speaking as one with no mean professional familiarity with that line of work.

Had a run-in with one of the local parking authorities this week. The net outcome is my purse was lightened by a few quid. And this is the same story I've been aware of ever since I was the greenest of green reporters. Never enough parking. The weirdness to me is parking enforcement means a steady rhythm of anger is a psychic feature of "downtown". It's a little bit of awareness we carry around in our heads ... is there still time on the meter?

Watching some sort of bird with a red head just above me. Avian taxonomy is not my long suit, nor do I hold any desire to expand that knowledge base.

We thought about doing that, but decided against it. Depending on how the notes have been made on a given card, there have been some reports in various news outlets about the lamination process rendering them unreadable. There are also spaces on the card for possible boosters, etc., which would be hard to write in if it's encased in plastic.

We're just going to scan them, and put them away unless/until they're needed again.

Ah they told me not to laminate my card. And I showed my card to my doctor's nurse this very morning. And we're all happy and everything, go over meds, go over vitals hey I'm doing great, and would be in optimal health with 50 fewer years on the books

Lighting changes quickly. What is literally perfect one instant is gone the next.

The ephemeral nature of those OMG visual moments means it's almost certain that your camera/phone is NOT at the ready.
Which perfect moment are we referring to? When I was doing "serious" photography, I had my camera all ready, shutter release cable in twitching hand, waiting on that perfect moment. ;)

Mine was the one in the middle.

Sounds good to me but, if I am required to carry anything, I would want it to be as close to the original as possible. Just to offset any arguments. If my lamination renders the card unreadable, I would go to my medical provider and request a duplicate.

This brings up the subject of a COVID passport. Apparently, the name "passport" is not acceptable to some. So, call it a travel and/or access license/permit. As of now, you are often required to provide two types of ID for various verifications. So, what's wrong with your driver's license, official ID, green card or passport. If vaccines taken are required, add them to the mix. I have no control what information is out there already and certainly don't mind people knowing I have been vaccinated.

Back yonder in 2013 I had my last visit with my original cardiologist before he left private practice to do device research for the FDA. We're close in age, and he couldn't remember which of us was the older. He's a native Irishman. He asked, "Have you crossed over yet?" I sat and stared at him and asked, I'm sitting here talking to you, aren't I?" He said, "No, I meant 'Have you turned 60 yet?'" I replied, "No, but you have, haven't you?" He lamented he had, said he felt himself slowing down, and didn't want to be getting old. I said, "Take heart. Here's what a 71-year-old woman looks like." I picked up the magazine I'd brought with me from the waiting room, flipped it open and handed it to him. There was an article about the remake of the Dallas TV show, with a few photos of Linda Gray in it. He took a look at her and said, "Get on with ya." I said, "Turn the page," where there was a pic of her in the back seat of a car, dressed to kill, legs crossed, looking gorgeous and sultry (I believe that's her leg in The Graduate movie poster, BTW). He gawked at her, looked up at me and said, "Get ON with ya!"

See? There's hope. Always. 65, 'tis but a flesh wound.
