Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

I haven't had rum since one night shortly after high school graduation. I and my friends had already polished off a very modest amount of beer, then decided to get some air and took a walk around the block. One guy mentioned he had a pint bottle of rum in his glove box and fetched it. Everyone else having declined, he and I alternated taking sips from it as we circumnavigated the block. When we got back to my friend's house the rum was all gone. There once was, and still may be, a photo of me lying in my friend's driveway afterward. Then, after taking the picture, he very kindly followed me home in those halcyon days when you were good to drive if you could get the keys into the ignition. Never again.

I like rum with Egg Nog at Christmas. The rest of the year, it's wine or, above 90F, beer. Finding the ignition is never an option at those times.

That ̶d̶e̶m̶o̶n̶ rum is the first, and only, time I've ever displayed drunken belligerence. My father's rule in my household growing up was
Drink anything you want but you don't leave the house and you have to replace what you drink.

For all I know that's probably criminal behaviour now.

I bake with this instead of vanilla. It adds complexity like a nice tube amp does.

<- read the dictionary as a child

oh no certainly never picked on :meh:

Morrighan's First Law — never play Scrabble with my mother. :rollno:
Corollary to Morrighan's First Law — avoid all word games including but not limited to crosswords and Boggle
Morrighan's Second Law — never play gin rummy with my father :rollno:
Corollary to Morrighan's Second Law — it is perfectly safe to play backgammon with Morrighan  (maximum wager is lunch)
Morrighan's Third Law — never try to beat anyone at their own game

With my "shoulda been replaced a year and a half ago" glasses, I misread a lotta [stuff].

Well of course I'm up and marginally around at this hour :eyebrow:
I got a scare this morning as my wife said she had a restless night and asked me to make sure she was up by 6:30. I thought we were to go to the gym this morning but she has a doctor's appointment. Whew!
I want to go to the gym but not this morning. Too groggy. I took a sliver of a sleep aid tablet and it has not left me yet.
