Oh we're all absolutely under assault from advertising practically all our waking hours. Even looking at this computer screen, the manufacturer's name is still displayed in front of me for my consciousness to register on some level.

All kinds of things can flash in, if you're not careful about discerning where it comes from. Parking the car the other day, I register a three letter acronym that begins with the sixth letter of the alphabet, followed ML. You know, something we might say to ourselves now and again for some reason, but not for parking a car. That's when I notice those are the first three letters of the license plate on the car in front of me.

And I'm all ... who drives around with a license plate like that for the life of the car? What state agency thinks that's okay? Or is it a vanity plate?

:wacky:

Fun with salespeople.

I went to H&M this evening to look for underpants. I don’t know why they only sell three packs.

In old geezer deadpan I said to the salesgirl, if I buy one pack does that means that I don’t have to wear underpants four days a week. She suggested that I buy three packs and have two spares. I asked her if I looked that old that I would need two spares in a week. She suggested that I would only have to do the laundry every nine days. I said that I wouldn’t want to wait that long. I asked if I could get a quantity discount, buy seven and get two free. It seems that they don’t, you’re expected to buy three packs. I bought one and we’ll see. At least they don’t have someone else’s name on the waistband.

I then went to the TV store. Business is slow downtown, I managed to talk them down $400 plus free delivery and setup.

A successful shopping trip.

FM used to be great until they went to AM style advertising. The HD stations are just as bad. If I listened to radio while driving, I would have SiriusXM. Now I enjoy my iPhone music or just the peace and quiet of nothing...I hate advertising!
I can't hack the "peace and quiet". I gots to have the Sirius/XM to mask the ringing in my ears.

I had a vanity plate for an old nickname of mine-FLICK. At a slight angle it looked like something else. I got a ship(sp?) load of questions about that, so I let it go.

Just curious, but... how often do you wear underpants with someone else's name on the waistband?
Sometimes I wear Jean's, sometimes she wears mine. Is it that sort of thing? Not judging...

Your Les Paul looks great! Is it as heavy as the old time 4 string Les Pauls?

At one time during the 30's WLS was a half million watt station, people used to get it on their tooth fillings: that is ten times the maximum power now allowed on the AM dial.

WLW in Cincinnati is still authorized for 500,000 Watts. During the day, they use 25,000 Watts and crank it up to 50,000 at night. Since they are one of 5 national emergency radio stations (a hold over from the Cold War) they can boost the signal to 500,000 Watts. Their tower is about 3 miles from where we live. There are US Army soldiers stationed there round the clock and the entire area is cordoned off with concertina wire fencing.
