I had a CT scan the other day to follow up on some found on another CT scan - nothing serious, doc is not concerned.
Anyways, laying there at stuff is spinning around. Okay, how do they get the power and data in and out? Probably a slip ring like a car alternator for the power. Slip ring for the data would create noise...probably some form of RF. That will keep me awake tonight.
So...went down that rabbit hole. It is slip rings for power and either RF or optical for the data. Slip rings for the data was used in the early days.

Desafinado was exquisite. Perfect vocal. Too much guitar solo, I thought. Nice band that I'd been unaware of. Thanks for sharing those.
I stumbled across these guys a few years ago working on an arrangement of "Dindi" for the school group and vocalist. Yes, I played a bass solo.
I've also played the intro and chording on the intro a couple of times when the guitar player didn't do his homework.

Those last videos caused me to remember a concert video I haven't watched in a long time. Anna Maria Jopek is a Polish jazz vocalist. The story behind this concert is that she and her partner/band mate were major fans of Pat Metheny. They went to Norway IIRC to see one of his shows, met with him backstage and asked permission to cover some of his songs with self-written vocals. Not only did he agree, he sat in on their concert! Enjoy!
EDIT: The album and concert name is Upojenie. In Polish it means "intoxicated", as in "intoxicated with you."
EDIT 2: So happy to have this on YouTube. The version I have on disc is PAL-encoded, and suffered playback issues when converted to NTSC. This version is smooth. Routed now through my main mixing monitors.

Our band does mostly 'classic rock"[whatever that is exactly], but we all have jazz backgrounds. One of the things that used to get us hired/rehired is our ability to play dinner music. We do a lot of Jobim-both the well known and the not so. Fun stuff.

Then there's this from Brazil. All musicians are classically trained professionals. Uakti (wah-KA-chi) is their side project playing self-made instruments. I first heard of these guys when Rush used their song "Trilobita" (from a different album) over the closing credits of the Live in Rio concert video release. When you hear the song, you'll know why Neal Peart picked it.

I've been decontenting, getting ready for my move. One of the things I'm doing is scanning the few old photos that interest me. One I found was me in my 9th grade band uniform, playing a bass clarinet. Thought of you immediately!
Cool and thanks. I wish I had access to old H.S. band pix. I don't have any yearbooks. Supposedly they're available in disc form but IDK where.

Lots of services that will digitize your yearbook, but no online source for already digitized yearbooks. With current privacy concerns, I don't think that will change.

There's a way to get them through our H.S. Alumni group. I just dunno if I have that much interest.
Hmm. I'll take a look at that-after the hockey game(intermission now).
Or at least keep one's mind busy while they're in the CT machine....
