Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

Thanks, I'll look into that...
I just finished searching thru something called the "Device Manager" to find out what kept waking my PC up alla time after I assigned it to sleep mode... Greatly annoying; I couldn't keep the power and screen off at all w/o completely powering everything down. Turns out it was unwanted activity on the internet that was doing it! So I got rid of that by unchecking a box next to the internet controller that said "Allow this device to wake computer from sleep"!! Now I guess I'll have to set this too-friggin-independent thing up so it asks me before doing any updates!
The robots are winning...
Greywoulf
 No, Mr. @Greywoulf you won this one!

Mr. Gates left quite a while back to create a philanthropic charity to atone for all the poor souls who gave their lives for his unscrupulous climb for world domination.

In Windows 10, if you type "Updates" into the search box, an update control panel will come up. You can schedule when your computer can update and whether or not you want the update to install. Finally, you can tell it to a) ask if you want to restart or b) schedule when to restart. If not much else Microsoft has learned a couple things in the last 40 years.

Bill still likes to tell other companies how to do business. Some non-microsoft updates are not in the computer's update system. Company computers for instance, have upgrades pushed out onto your computer when they want them installed. They have their own update manager.

In my case with Apple equipment, I have autoupdate turned on. As an OS upgrade or app becomes available, they are installed automatically. Apps right away, OS upgrades are usually performed overnight, a notice is provided. You have the option of installing right away. Some require a reboot, others don't. But they never do it while you are working.

I was looking at LED lightbulbs for a regular socket the other day. They have computers in them. A bluetooth controller with the option of voice control turns them on and off as well as dims them. Some change their colour. They were under $10, Honeywell controllers were under $100. They can be operated over the internet from your phone. When not being used they can display the weather. This has been around for while but there's been a lot of advances.

This whole control your house technology is quite impressive. I asked if it can still work like a regular lightbulb. They gave me this, Why would I want to do that?, stare.

And then there's this, perhaps a lesson to those who want all their appliances, security system, and doorbell to be connected to the Internet: Link Removed .

Hope they iron out the problem of outsiders talking to one's children in their bedrooms without the parents knowing.

That some computers are evil is not an indictment of all computers.

Now that takes us back to spooky. The door is open to modern day apparitions like they used to make horror films about.

The package tracker in the email that informs me my Pattern System for the Bass Player wall chart and tee records the shipment as still in the queue for delivery. The shirt has an image of Skippy the Metronome doing a facepalm. Who could resist? It's so me.

I don't need no pervert AI creeping around my house. Know-it-alls are so annoying.

I think you're right. It sticks in my craw sometimes when a guitar player does a full barre chord when only three or four notes are needed. Then they wonder why the sound is muddy.

What the heck is a craw anyway? Figuring that out will probably keep me awake tonight. I need an assistant to handle this stuff.

Ah, a better light bulb that can spy on you! Next will be a better mouse trap that will do the same thing...
