I think of my late brother Tom who died too young at 53 and how he loved technology. Even more than me. I'm more like a greasy auto mechanic. I like to get my hands dirty in fixing computers but don't have much interest in higher level knowledge of how they're programmed, outside of user preferences.
Tom would have been amazed by everything he would see today. We are spoiled by advance computer graphics on the television. Our refrigerators can communicate with our smartphones. We have cameras answering the door on front porches. Streaming TV. In 1981 I fell in love with the movie Blade Runner and was working my way to that future. Well, we're partially there and I no longer feel like a futurist. It isn't what it was all cracked up to me. Technology has dumbed down our young people. They can't spell, can't add, can't do cursive, and don't understand in-person courtesy. The 1% seem to like our young generation to lack vision and leadership. We're becoming a nation of lemmings. I'm sorry to sound so negative but my dream of technology making the future bright backfired on me.
Now I enjoy going out to the woods and making a nice campfire with Carey. Roasting marshmallows. Listening to nighttime forest sounds. I've kind of come full circle back to my childhood. Ironic isn't it?
We all need to get back to the woods and away from our constant crap...
Currently, fires in the woods are banned due to dry conditions. Use of fire places in the city are always banned due to pollution concerns. Fires are out. I suppose that you can BBQ a marshmallo.
As a kid we used to cut cattail reed stems and soak the top in gasoline, then light them. That must be illegal theese days as well. There's always someone in authority taking away all the fun.

Just a friendly game of singe the ear hair, yes?
Nice pic of corn dogs growing wild.Currently, fires in the woods are banned due to dry conditions. Use of fire places in the city are always banned due to pollution concerns. Fires are out. I suppose that you can BBQ a marshmallo.

Already picked up my grocery order...It's too early to deal with
Sometimes I do burn leaves, just to remember...We used to do the same thing. For whatever reason they were known as "punks". Another deeply ingrained olfactory memory is the smell of neighbors burning leaves in the fall. That was outlawed in the 60's IIRC. I used to love that smell.

My the prices! GOF.
I've been ordering online for quite a while now. Now I kind of like not going in there!Even at 7AM, the grocery store is getting crowded.
I always burn my boxes and paper packing. The stuff really collects in a hurry with a lot of delivered items these days. The recycling facility stopped accepting cardboard items and unfortunately the plastic, too. But, I wait till things are a bit moist out in the surrounding fields or at least not windy as to set embers flying.Sometimes I do burn leaves, just to remember...
