Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

House problem today besides the dishwasher. The drain line for the kitchen sink clogs about every 4-5 yrs. Have to run about 25 ft of garden hose down the clean out to clear it. I think their is a T or Y in the line there since I can't get the hose to go any further. Might be where the washer drain hooks in. Anyways, a successful clearing and probably 200 bucks I don't have to pay a plumber.

Tree root? It would be nice to run a camera from the sink to the street.

I always wanted a Saab Sonnet.

Pretty sure this is all under the house - slab foundation. Don't think it's tree roots. I doubt I would be able to clear it with a hose if that were the case. There was no evidence of tree root in the stuff that back flushed.

Ah, the joys of owning a home. Then again, if we rented we'd probably be waiting on someone to fix it. Good and bad to either.

I'm kind of torn. There are rumors around town about people getting together for the 4th and playing some music. I've been chomping at the bits to get back in there since I haven't played since last 4th. Here's my dilemma: I have been a die hard Gallien Krueger man for a good number of years. I love the tone and sound. But RAG came out with a couple new models called the Legacy series. They are based off the old RB series except with modern electronics, higher power and less weight. I want one, don't know if I want just the head or the combo. I talked to Jason at GK and he said for the couple hundred more the combo was a better deal.

So what happens next? Yamaha/Ampeg came out with a brand new line of combos that look fantastic. They are half the weight of the old BA series combos more powerful, and with great new features like the overdrive Scrambler built in. Plus they're really priced to sell. I don't even need a new amp head or combo, but if nothing else I want to move ahead with the new GK Legacy head or combo. I think because I might do the Big R next year Carey might say yes to the GK Legacy head. And I would tend to agree with her because I have 3 pretty powerful speakers already. But dang the new Ampeg Rocket Bass looks good. And it was created by Yamaha. I suspect in the end GK will win out and I'll get the head because I'm an old dog who doesn't like new tricks and I like what I like. Here's the lineup:

The more I think about it, the more the GK head makes the most sense. I already have a DNA DNS 112 with a 400 watt driver in it and that would make a nice pretty portable little monster. So GOF's is my reasoning sound?

Ampeg and GK are pretty different ends of the amp spectrum, Will.

Agreed. I think I had a hot flash moment there. Got all caught up in the excitement of the New Ampeg Combo thread! I've been using GK for years and it's dependable, well made, punchy equipment. Heck I've even done small acoustic gigs with my GK MB108 with 25 watts! Thanks @Morrighan for your input.

No, it is not. :D It's an Ampeg. You know you want it even though you don't need it. It's an Ampeg. It's on almost every backline in pro music. It calls your name. All other brands wish they were Ampeg. Go to it. Resistance is futile.

PS: I'm an Ampeg guy in case you didn't figure that out. :D

Those became obsolete when Sears stopped printing catalogs. And Sears is almost extinct. Sears could have been Amazon if they would have had a little foresight in the late '90s. They already had the warehousing and distribution in place.

Sears board meeting:
Board member, smart but no clout: J.P., this internet thing looks like it will turn into something. Maybe we could supplement store sales with internet catalog shopping.
J.P.: That internet thing won't go anywhere. No one needs a computer at home and they are too expensive for most people. People like to shop in the stores.
Board member, smart but no clout: to himself - what an idiot.
The guy who ran Sears and K-Mart into the ground did it for the assets, primarily the real estate. He didn't give a cwap the retail business. The last sentence in the Wikipedia listing for his career pretty much sums him up:

"In January 2019, a group of Sears' creditors hoping to persuade a federal judge to force Sears to liquidate alleged that [Eddie] Lampert had orchestrated a "multiyear and multifaceted scheme" to strip away the company's assets and benefit from its decline."

At least it wasn't a 'fatberg' like the get in the London sewage system.

'Total monster': fatberg blocks London sewage system

Will, how about first playing the 4th? Sounds like you've got enough rigging for that. Meanwhile you can let the purchase decision mull and age. Ah, delicious indecision!;)

Note, I just crossed the rubicon marked 6-0. So do what you wish with my vote!

Nice! And would fit your suitcase rig IIRC. But back when they were newish???

Would love to see something like that, or the MGB GT, made today with 2021 components and engineering. The risk of getting it through marketing and finance is hitting that sweet spot between "looks fun but isn't" (Pontiac Fiero) and "license suspension" (Acura NSX).

I guy I worked with in the '80s had a brother who worked for Pontiac in the design group. Right after the Fiero was released, he called his brother and told him NEVER to get in one. Turned out the plastic body was HIGHLY flammable. Yikes. When a design engineer tells you not to use the product, something's way wrong.

There once was life after death for pay phones. A guy I knew who worked for Bell Telephone back when they were removing pay phones from use was in a meeting where they were discussing the fate of 80,000 pay phones. They decided to landfill them. This guy steps up and says "I'll take them." And Bell gave him 80,000 pay phones for free. What did he do with them? He put them in prisons and jails where cell phones weren't permitted. Made a fortune!

And deeply screwed the prisoners! -Bell (and most all the other creepy despicable phone companies) charge prison inmates upwards of $5 a minute to call home. Prisoners are trapped 'customers' who have no choice, and their families get stuck with obscenely huge phone bills because of lonely people calling home (collect) to their folks... This happened when my deceased younger brother was in lockdown years ago, and from what I last read is probably still going on!
