Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

Going to say all of us on this thread have personal experience with low speed dentist's drills. My childhood dentist would daub with something he assures me tastes like banana. It's hurl time :vomit: ... He was in his 80s when he retired, and I was probably no more than 12 or 13 when he turned the practice over to a "young guy".

I remember that from earlier times. I was fascinated with all of the pulleys and belts but that fascination went away when it was in your mouth!

Dental memories... As a kid to mid teens our dentist was a friend of the family. He did not have a light touch and once I bit him. My folks made me call him and apologize. What he did have was an absolutely gorgeous admin/office manager. Me being a teenage boy, that made trips to the dentist more than palatable. And, her name was "Bunny". Oy! I also distinctly remember reading a Life Magazine article in the waiting room (across from Bunny) about LSD. Being 15 or 16 at the time and up to then completely drug and alcohol ignorant, I said to myself "Self, I gotta try that stuff." Well, a few years later...

Dental memory? Ok. Ship was in the Brooklyn Navy Yard drydock, and the Navy decided it was a fine time to cut my wisdom teef out. They drive me over to some facility on Staten Island and proceed to stick a needle in my arm and administer liquid valium. Yes, I was high as a freakin kite. The dental apprentice, er, professional got done and they get me off the chair and sit me on a high stool. Annndddd I basically dozed off and fell off the stool, breaking my jaw when I hit the floor. Go Navy.

Looked like they came out of Doc Frankenstein's lab...
I was thinking W. C. Fields, myself!

A couple of TV shows we really like:

The Equalizer with Queen Latifa. Based on the Denzel movies.
I was always a big fan of the Edward Woodwood era.

Anybody remember Breaker Morant?

Dental memory?
Hmm, mental demory? Eyes got to think about that.

Oh bother, a good reason to be grumpy. Tomorrow, the days will become shorter. It’s dark now on the east coast.

A foot tapper.

Saw the first fireflies of 21 with Odin as we sat outside for sunset on summer solstice. Yes, painfully aware of the shorter and shorter days even now. Speaking to-morrow with a friend in S.A., where it's midwinter. Looks like this:

Always believed Ray Dorset's porkchop sideburns were a bit weird. Then, and now.

Edward Woodward was great. The ones with Denzel have been good. Sometimes a little more hi-tech than I like, but the times they are a-changing.

I am okay with laughing gas at the dentist. Like when there's a crown being done. Yes please with the laughing gas.
My current dentist is very good. I hate having dental work done but it became necessary. I'm one of those that needs novocaine to make an appointment, but she's very good and after the initial 'pinch' of the needle, I'm OK.

Almost got shrapneled! Left a case of diet Pepsi out in the car for several days. It got hot. Brought the case in, noticed how warm the cans were, didn't care. Didn't notice how fat the cans got also; -really should've notice that...!!!
When I popped a can, BLAM! Like a gunshot! Scared the bejeepers out of me, scared the missus, she came running into the kitchen... Pepsi flew up and out allover the place and the soft aluminum top part of the can by the opening was all twisted freaky like! --But thank the soda gods it (barely) hung onto the can and didn't fly off into my face (like the Pepsi did!).
Hopefully the rest of the cans will become more uncharged now in the fridge, but I ain't taking no more chances... They'll be opened on the back porch with the tops of the cans pointed well away from me or any other living creature! -Damn thing was like a bomb!!

Write a nice letter to Pepsi, include a photo, and ask them to replace them. I did that once about a bad potato chip and got a free case.

Me Like! I squirm around a lot less in the chair when I am on gas. It seems that everything wants to itch otherwise. Such is the case in the barber chair.
I once got a root canal using only the gas. My former dentist could not believe that I managed it. I remember thinking to myself "Oh boy, this would really hurt if I was not so buzzed".
The current dentist will no longer do stuff without the injection along with the gas. I guess that she doesn't want to risk having to stop what she's doing, administer the shot, wait for it to kick in, etc... if things get uncomfortable for me.
