Hmmm....Now they're the number of yer first post in the chat, but we weren't doing that when I started here so I created my own based on my birth date(22 August).
I was in a band 70-72 that used 4 Voice of the Theater utility cabs(with the built in horn), 2 stacked on either side of the stage. These were used only for vocals. Almost nobody was mic'ing instruments through the PA at that time.(just for info, I was playing a VOX Continental organ>Leslie speaker miced into my Kasino bass amp, the bass man used an Ampeg V4>2 2x15 cabs, the guitarist had 2 VOX Super Beatles[2 heads-1 on standby, 1 active>2 4x12 cabs], and the drummer had a double bass drum, 3 mounted toms, 2 floor toms, snare, and a lotta cymbals rig). When that group folded, I got 2 of the VOT's, which I used either for my home stereo or, later at the Miami Beach hotel gig, for PA. The hotel later bought them from me and someone from another band-after we'd moved on-stole the horns out of them.![]()
If I had the space in the house a pair of those would be here. Hmmm...remove a few pieces of furniture, perhaps?![]()
Denise and Mary both play bass. Posted this before but ... you know.
Fine people

Hmmm....
My first post was #976.
...No wonder I don't get any respect around here!
They were state of the art at the time. Also pretty heavy.
I recall micing an acoustic piano and a small guitar ~amp with our Shure PA. But in general, PA’s were mostly for vocals.
My first GOF post?

The old Garnett PA my group had back then could barely handle vocals and horns, let alone a bass.
My first GOF post?
My first phone had a crank handle. There was a one-holer out back. There was a pump handle at the kitchen sink.
And you want me to remember my first GOF post?

Added to my sig!I don't try/can't remember much, but I do try to remember how to search up stuff.
I'd forgotten your first GOF post, Maarti. But reading it just now brought back good memories.Thanks.

Wunner why?Talking about "one-holers", years ago I convinced my parents to join us at a fishing camp. The outhouses had a piece of wood nailed to the outside that swiveled to keep the door closed when not in use.
As luck would have it, my mother decided to use it one day and, when she got inside and closed the door, the piece of wood rotated and locked her in.
She was inside hollering for help for 10 minutes before anyone heard her.
She never wanted to go back there again...
They not only both play bass...they both play the same bass!
A touch of gray. Those SM58’s sound great. See, it can be done.
But, technology makes our lives so much better/easier, right?Actually plugged in my SM58 Friday for the first time in months. The intent was to be able to speak and play in a Zoom, with a headphone monitor from the PreSonus. Everything worked but the headphone monitor. Much fiddling as the only way to hear what's on screen is if I connect the Bluetooth set. Then I can't hear the bass at all.
Pretty unsatisfactory all around.
Forgot a step in the setup, I reason. It's all torn down and put away now. I will need to get this working.

Slow down there, pardner...But, technology makes our lives so much better/easier, right?
