Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

dammit. You are going to get me into trouble. This and eyeing the Gibson Thor Ampking300 has, and a Kustom in blue or cascade, and a B15S, and an Acoustic 360, and a blue line SVT, and, and, and I need a bigger house......

Easy. Just annex that next door neighbor's house that was for sale and turn it into your studio/storage building.

Walking the dog provides me with a pretty good take on the neighbors.

House down at the corner sold three weeks ago, after seven months on the market. My impression is it was a burner house for the former owner. She had a evidently spendy fence installed for her two dogs. What she didn't spend coin on was the property. The new owners had three dead trees removed from the front lawn.

Took the opportunity to introduce my nosy self walking Odin the day they moved in. More precisely, being where they were able to introduce themselves first

Yeah sure, I have a general feel for the neighborhood.

And I know it's still that part of me trained as a reporter — a job I dearly loathed — that runs on autopilot. And in that, my acknowledgement that the craft is performance art.

There's an actress I befriend ... a very fine lady. My job is Editor, as in the buck-stops-here editor. One day, with no mean pride of our very fine newspaper, I tell her I am SO glad I'm not in the entertainment business.

"You are, dear, you are," she replies.

And that is EXACTLY what I miss most, well, the only thing I miss, about no longer being a consultant. I miss the AUDIENCE. Nothing better than standing in front of a large group (I've done up to 1000 participants), having them pay me a boatload of money to hear what I have to say.

It was more fun even than my actual acting career. I got to be myself, instead of some character. I'm enough of a character as it is.

Yes, it felt my word carried weight. Not easy to earn in those quarters. A great deal of prestidigitation is required.

You are Steve Miller, and I claim my $5!:smug:

One other thing: lately more and more I feel most of us are in some form of entertainment industry. 'Cept for the gardeners, farmers and ranchers.

Has introducing yourself to the new neighbours come down to providing proof of vaccination?

We spoke at about 3 m distance, they were in their car as I walked Odin

but yes, good point.
as one who is vaccinated, and took the vaccine as soon as it was available for my age and risk group, I've little inclination to hang around the un-vaccinated. Or pre-vaccinated. One of my friends adamantly refuses vaccination because of her personal belief system. My personal belief system holds that catching The Thing That's Going Around from someone else's reality bubble is a poor wager to take.

Lie down with dogs. Get up with fleas.

Ships bound for Sicily brought the plague in 1347, is how that song goes. The Navigator: A Medieval Odyssey takes place 'round then. Don't read the plot spoiler if you've an itch to watch ;) Kind of refreshing to me to see Medieval life shown without hobbits and trolls, knights, dragons, the lot. Lancelot buffed his sword keenly, to hear tell, but Monty Python put that foolishness to rest. Neil Innes, Bonzo Dog (Doo-Dah) Band member is Sir Robin's minstrel.

The guy who made these was a well known stage actor in his time.

I been past the ranch art a number of times back in the last century.
That bed looks super uncomfortable. Here's a pic of King Ludwig II's bed in the Neuschwanstein castle. Just the top took a couple of years to hand carve. Each wooden ceiling was carved uniquely. He bankrupted Bavaria. If you ever get a chance to visit, do! It's a spectacular castle. I believe it's the castle used for the Wonderful World of Disney.

Here's a pic I took in 2006 when serving as a tour guide/logistics provider for the top 13 U.S. pre-Olympic female gymnasts touring southern Germany as part of an international performance tour. My ex-stepson was the coach of one of the girls.

that feeling of having pea'd ;) through 20 mattresses
She's a slacker compared to moi. I couldn't get comfy in bed one night because of a crease in the bedding that I couldn't find and flatten out.

Took me a LONG time to realize it wasn't the bedding, it was flabby skin complements of losing 4 stone (56 pounds for you non-Irish/Brits/Scots/Aussies). :banghead:
