Harissa is my total kick of late and it's got so that it's about time to make it at home. A store brand that was discontinued was just about perfect. The chain began stocking Mina harissa, and it doesn't suit me. The discontinued one is olive oil based, and Mina brand is vinegar based :meh:

Late night chip shop blues

When I was in the US Navy my ship was in Norfolk Virginia. My shipmate Dan had a Vietnamese wife, and we would go out on the Bay in a John boat and crab for blue crabs. Jing Jing would boil those crabs up in this giant pot she had, holy smokes that was good.
Months without an 'r' in them. 'Tis the season! Love soft shell crab.

If Jing Jing made crabs the way they do in Petaling Jaya (PJ) Malaysia, I'd be ALL over them! There was a restaurant close to my regular hotel in PJ that served awesomely delicious crab. The first time eating there, I order the crab. Several came on a big plate. Heavenly! I never ordered anything else there!

The hands-down best crab I ever had was at a restaurant in the same building as my flat in Hanoi.
