Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

I've lost at least 1/2" since my spine started spitting out disks.

I knew the day would come, I actually expected sooner, but today I found out my ticker is finally in a bit of trouble. Doc heard a murmur and a click, so off to the cardiologist next month. I doubt I'll need a valve job yet, but I'm sure I could use some stints.
Get an oil change and lube job too?

Maybe...but where they put that grease nozzle gets a little difficult at times.
NIPPLES!

Just to let you GOFs know, after 20 years of nagging by nurse/wife nad my doc, as I type this, I am joining your horrific salad club. You can stop telling me lies about how great it tastes. This first one is a kit, so I didn't have to stop by the grocery store. It came with a sack with nuts and little Styrofoam bean bag chair beads, a sack with stinky dry cheese and enough oddly strawberry dressing for the first bowl. Second bowl I covered with honey mustard dressing/dip.

Still eating meat tho dambit. In fact, I finished two bowls of weeds and my wife is giving me roast chicken. Only white meat. She pulled the skin off the yummy skin covered end and when blood shot out of my eyeballs, she let me have the thin strip of skin on the other slices.

"It came with a sack...with nuts" ???

I'm no doctor, never played one on tv (but the wife and I still..remember...I've already said too much) but I don't understand how removing meat (bovine, ovine, or fowl) is considered GOOD for humans. Our genetic predisposition demands we have it, we have the natural tools to chew and digest, we have the cravings...yet within the past decade 'medical science' has decided to overturn a million years of evolution.

Maybe it's what our food eats that's not so wonderful, but in the meantime...Gimme a steak.

No human society has survived without meat, but they did survive without eating weeds. Meat contains "Essential" amino acids not found in any plant. Essential in terms of nutrition speak means those the body can't make out of other things if it has to. IIRC one of the amino acids is used for building protein. We ARE protein (and a little fat, but some of us mix that around).

If God didn't want us to eat animals, why did he make them taste like meat?

My cholesterol actually fell into the normal zone for the first time since the very first time it was ever tested. My doc is happy if I score a 250. This is just because I had the flu followed by a toothache, then went to the vampire's office for the blood draw. And as usual, if my cholesterol goes down at all, triglycerides shoot way up. In the 300's this time, but I've hit 800's in the past. They are usually above normal. I usually get anything my immediate family got, plus whatever my grandparents had. If one side didn't have it, the other did. I'm amazed I'm not diabetic yet and no heart attack or stroke.

YES! Meat and potatoes are good for you!

"Alpha-lipoic acid is a vitamin-like chemical called an antioxidant. Yeast, liver, kidney, spinach, broccoli, and potatoes are good sources of alpha-lipoic acid. It is also made in the laboratory for use as medicine.

Alpha-lipoic acid is used for [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] and nerve-related [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] including burning, pain, and numbness in the legs and arms. High doses of alpha-lipoic acid are approved in Germany for the treatment of these symptoms.

Some people use alpha-lipoic acid for memory loss, chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), HIV/AIDS, cancer, liver disease, diseases of the heart and blood vessels (including a disorder called cardiac autonomic neuropathy) and Lyme disease.

Alpha-lipoic acid is also used to treat eye-related disorders, such as damage to the retina, cataracts, glaucoma, and an eye disease called Wilson’s disease."

I've always had pretty good cholesterol numbers. Just had a physical last week and it was 145. I'm somewhat careful about my diet, but I allow treats too. The old "all things in moderation" bit. I'm 6' and range between 165lbs. during cycling season and drift up to 172lbs. during the winter

Most of us get more lemon or pair shaped. Tightening the belt just pushes the pants down further. I'm hoping for a high tech fiber to overcome this issue. Otherwise, pulling pants up all day, suspenders, relocating the waistline up to the ribs, or letting them sag making our saggy asses look saggier.
