Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

Nutrition can be tricky with me, now that the main kidney function is done by a machine 3 to 5 times a week. I can really feel it when I've indulged on anything that has extra phosphates. And beer has lots of phosphates due to the barley malt. On the other hand, I should eat proteins on every meal, and those load me up with phosphates as well. I'll have to go back to red wine with my steaks.

Life with no beer ever makes me sad. Can you knock a couple back the night before?

I haven't had one for months. Probably get some towards the end of April. Wife's B-day, our anniversary, my B-day, three days of cutting it up in a row. I might even have 6 one evening!

The trouble with phosphate overload is that I get cramps in the legs, so if I overladwith beer, I'll have to do it to the extent that I pass out or don't otherwise notice the cramps - which makes it impossible to get up and go to dialysis in the morning. A real first-world catch-22.

Well, i feel slow and over weight.. i am at about 180 right now.. but feel that i would like to get back to say 170 or 165

i was am small boned and was a skinny kid.. i felt best when i was at 150.. but when i went into Uncle Sams Canoe Club, i was at 118

My doctor warned me to be moderate, and that the "ideal weights" were both unrealisticly low and in many cases borderline unhealthy.

Thank you! Being a smidgeon over 6', ever weight chart says my 'ideal' is 186...When I was 185, people said I look sick. When I was 165, people thought I was dying, my mother (who I hadn't seen in a very long time then) started weeping thinking her youngest was about to pass away...this was when I realized these weight charts and my unhealthy obsession with them were idiotic.

I'm still 6', weigh 197, and whatever...

I'm not going by charts ;)
I weighed 145 (at 6'3") until I was 30.
Really long in the limb.
I stopped active bike riding and swimming about the same time.
I'm feeling better by the day.
NOT shooting for the weight of my 20's ;)
I just know that I can see my toes without leaning forward. I can stand straight legged and bend over to tie my shoes. My bass hangs better ;)
Tis all good!

According to the charts, instead of 5'8" I should be 7'8"!
