I sense Ken would like it better if we stop talking about his past occupational "positions" and his massive shalong and turn to other types of meat. I will say he did and presumably still does have to wear three legged pants. Which leads to a little joke before we got on with the proposed topic swap:
Did you know that Lorraine Bobbitt does the weather now? She's predicting 6" will drop before sunrise.
OK, what is the most bizarre meat or meat like thing (insects, eggs, etc.) that you have eaten? No one wants to hear about the tube snake boogie here... well some of us might, but I'm talking about food.
My #1, as far as freak out factor goes, has to be the infamous Filipino Baulit. @spankdaplank do you eat or have you tried it? It's a fertilized egg, partially developed. I only eat the slightly developed, not caring for bones, beaks and the white when it becomes what we used to call the "golf ball," hard and plastic like. It's the treat with feet. If you can't get some to try, you can at least enjoy watching others eat it:

When linked, the still image is kinda graphic, so you need to take the space out of the link or search youtube for b5WTw3D5B74
#2, fried grasshoppers. These are very good. If I could buy them here, I would. Common free bar food in Thailand. Hold the little legs in between your fingers and bite off the rest. The legs are like fish bone to swallow.
#3 Cobra. Me and a couple of other sailors bought one at a street cobra show and took it back to the hotel to have them cook it. The Thais at the hotel made it too spicy. Otherwise, a lot of bone, little meat, and stringy like frog legs.
#4 Chocolate covered crickets on a stick, served by my nephew when he was an undergrad in entomology. Yummy! Tastes like chocolate.
#5 Meal worms. Booth by my nephew's had those and they were pretty gross. Watching my mom eat them didn't help.
#6 Frog legs. Stringy meat, like cobra. Not bad tasting. Chinese buffet here serves them, but way overcooked.
#7 Carp. Smoked carp is popular in Iowa. Not bad, but nothing like smoked salmon. Pan fried carp is pretty bland. I only ate fried carp when me and my teen aged buddies thought we were bad assed by not bringing food camping. Stayed out the three days we planned, it rained, and we never did it again. We almost ate tree rat, but it was the lst day and we passed on that and went home. Indiana is not the place to live off the land.
Edburganito.Is your first name Andrew?
So you guys a still salivating on Ken’s pickle? Will you ever change?
OK we're here in Liverpool after a long overnight flight. Met the little nieces and the littler nephew. They’re all delightful. They shunned us at first but got used to us by the end of the evening.
It’s half four in the morning and I woke up at my usual Toronto time so I thought I’d say hi![]()
Top of the morning to ya Paulie old chap! Hope you're enjoying your visit on the other side of the Pond! Don't forget to walk across teh street at Abbey Road!![]()
Abbey Road is in London not Liverpool.
It’s lovely to hear the British accents. With Dorothy’s leg problem we opted to ask for a wheelchair in Manchester. We had bought our limit of J & B scotch at the Duty Free in Toronto but they had Baileys, two big bottles for $50, on the plane so I bought two. I thought that import on $50 wouldn’t be that much. A kind gentleman wheeled The wheelchair to where our luggage was, got me a trolley and led the way out off the airport. We seem to completely miss Customs!! The Brothers like Baileys so they were happy.![]()
Your re-learning British fast! Good to hear you made it and got to see the youngsters.half four
It's pretty well done except for which bass pre, leading towards Aged Horse Andy's Mesa.
What did I just read?
Yup. No crap here. We're as good as as seen on tv!I thought it was a pile of crap myself but it’s got to be true ‘cos I read it in a book!![]()
