A day spent in the hospital ward is a day spent sleeping. Or at least napping. I'm grumpy because I had to get there at 7:30 to have a venous catheter removed. The others got their lunches when I was finally wheeled to the operation room. The cocktail they gave me put me out for the rest of the day. Fortunately I don't have those annoying cannula ends dangling over my right-side pec, anymore. 3 stitches.
"One day?!" Where do think they pull those things out of?

I AM GRUMPY. No power since yesterday noon. Neighbor eating neighbors. Worst yet, I had to settle for cowboy coffee and the process limited me to 3 cups!!! Grrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!

Absolutely... cowboy coffee and campfire biscuits. In another life I played a BUNCH of trail rides, chuck wagons, cowboy reunions, and such gigs, and got so spoiled by that cuisine. Dang.
I'm grumpy too. I'm not even done recovering from hip surgery and found out I need wrist surgery soon. Another 12 week recovery period. I think "the golden years" is a fantasy invented by some 30-something advertising exec who I hope is now old and decrepit like the rest of us. It's really more like "the recovery years", at least until you don't.
Also called "the discovery years" 'cause you find out how parts of your body work or don't work. And you discover how side effects change your life.I'm grumpy too. I will not be 100% grumpy today...plan on cruising at about 70%, conserving some fuss energy for later,in case it's needed. There are so many things ticking me off right now I need a whole new internet just to list them.
Unfortunately there are some not so unpleasant things taking the fun out of being a curmudgeon, hence the throttling back. I guess that's a good thing?

Old guy chariot build update...
While designing amps and speakers is my day job, some of you (including you horse guys) have been following the progress on my "night job" which is theatrical entertainment shows... horseback (of course to music). One of this year's show segment we are contracted for is from Ben Hur, so like any engineer with a fabrication shop I just built a chariot and the rigging needed to pull it. The unique aspect is that I have to rode the horse while pulling a couple of "charioteers" (~15 year olds) in grand style into their own show segment. Reliability and ruggedness is essential in applications like this because a failure could be catastrophic. Actually, all of these shows are inherently dangerous but when you are attached to something behind you, the danger multiplies.
The other segment is Man From Snowy River, galloping a pattern isn't all that difficult... until you add another horse being ponied beside the horse being ridden. I've always wanted to do this segment, love the movie and love the music, but needed the right horse combination to do this "safely". Again, just galloping a horse by itself is not that difficult, but adding a ponied horse at that speed changes the game considerably.
Expected audience is over 20,000 for each show segment over 3 weeks. This is as close to being back out on a theatre tour as I can get... other riders from all over the state (and a couple from the other side of the country), the camaraderie/collaboration, the music, the load-in, the rehearsals, the cues, the production values, damage control, and the intensity. My production riding partner and I have known each other for 25 years, and have trained our own horses which are super solid, so we tend to do the more dangerous show segments anyway.

Beautiful work, but I'm slightly disappointed there are no butterfly spikes on the wheels to make things...er...interesting

I dunno how interesting, but I like to turn perfectly good metals into chips in my machine shop. I haven' t worked in it for a few years for health issues.
