Mostly, yes...unless we choose to rewrite it.
I've actually had "working" "engineers " tell me rather vehemently that it was physically impossible to record more than one instrument at a time and have it be worthwhile... that no records have EVER been done that way since the 30s, and that a click track was used on every major label release since 1954.
And he was deadly serious. Rose colored glasses tend to be damaging to reality
You'll notice a bunch of recent posts were deleted as a part of a cleanup following a member's posting in violation of rule 5. Nobody that responded was infracted, but the posts were deleted due to the loss of context that came from removing the initial post.

1) correct tempo
2)stay in the &%$#^@^%^ pocket
3) at least learn the signature riffs, and don't noodle / play every f^%$$&n lick you know, less is more

I like the idea of a click track as I can't seem to find a drummer that will stay home and keep the groove.
Why do they always chase the guitar players who constantly push?
I would love to just be able to sit back and enjoy the groove instead of stomping a hole in the stage!!!!!
Almost all drummers I work with have such a groove it's near impossible to not play in it, yet other band members do so...it like the guitar players are Navin Johnsons...
I hate clicks simply because they take away the natural ebb and floe of real music. If I wanted to hear that stuff, I'd put down the bass, play it on a keyboard with real time quantize set to stun.
Over the decades I've played with both, live and studio...always prefer without.

Why am I grumpy you ask? I'm trying to sell a couple speakers on the evilbay and I need to get exactly what I'm asking to make my money back. If I go any lower I'm losing, but it sure seems to be a buyer's market. I don't care what anyone calls it, the buying economy sure seems flat. I never used to have trouble selling stuff. There now I'm not as grumpy, but still a little bit.

Please expound on your pedal. When you said 500 watts that weigh nothing and Ampeg that piqued my interest. So, 500 watts in a pedal?
The pedal is the preamp...the amp was designed by Jay Ganz, and is a stand alone fair not much bigger than a pedal... I absolutely love mine

We had some friends come to visit - we live in the mountains of Colorado...and the first thing our of their mouths was "Where's the weed!!" They were disappointed to find out that I haven't done that crap since the early (very early) 80s..
Their response? "But it's legal here!!"and I shot back "so?" Eventually, after they agreed to do the driving, I agreed to go into Denver (I hate that place) and take them to a "pot shop".
The funny part? Before entering the store, they were looking around and I asked them why? "Just checking to see if the cops are watching"..........lordy, lordy.....I am STILL not sure that I did the right thing by taking them there....
