De Havilland made two very remarkable aircraft that were used as bush planes, the Beaver and the Otter. Both loved by pilots, both recognized as engineering achievments. Many are still flying. A modern Twin Otter is still in production.

The Avro Arrow is a testament to government stupidity in the late 50’s.

Good movie if you like aviation. The last 15 minutes is an eye opener.

There has been an initiative put forth to try and retrieve the Arrow's that were sent into Lake Ontario. I believe that they have found the scaled down model but are still searching for the full scale planes that were sent to their watery graves.
The museum of Aviation and Space in Ottawa has the front shell of the Avro Arrow on display, an empty shell and really, all that's left of the program.
The whole project was a great example of government stupidity.

To this day the USN Test Pilot School use the Beaver and Otter to train pilots in unique characteristics of low speed aircraft handling and flight characteristics and explore fixed wing Short Takeoff and Landing (STOL) flying qualities and performance. They are both very robust aircraft.

IIRC the Beaver has a lot of drag and at low speeds, like on landing, you have to keep the nose down in order to reduce drag and keep speed up. It's a behind the power curve kind of approach on final and if you try to pull the nose up the aircraft sinks like a stone even with application of power. It's certainly a different experience for high performance jet pilots who at typical landing speeds and weights can select military thrust or burner and power their way to rocket like flight.

what is wrong with you guys? All this talk of working with Trojans, and not one condom joke? Not one UCLA joke?

Jeez.. boring. I’ve been in graveyards that were more fun

I was tempted I must admit but I love aircraft and was bamboozled by the video. :)

Besides graveyards are very popular places. People are always dying to get into one. ;)
