Gut shot. A lot of drivers:

I was told it is a prototype of some sort.

That not P, T, and L, it’s PTL aka pass the loot.

It does look like a prototype. Maybe the board was bought separetely and the amp assembled using it as a building block.

There are red wires that are flying over the board going to the bridge rectifier on the other side and among other things a center tap (red with white stripe, ground) on the board. The power transformer wires were too short so they extended them. Why wouldn’t the power supply components be layed out close to the power transformer. The transformer should be on the other side. Makes me wonder what they were thinking.

In that AC bundle appears to be a wire from the input jack. Maybe it is just the image. Normally a cable carrying a signal would be kept away from AC runs. The gray sheath could mean a shielded cable, you’d think that it would be routed ninety degrees to the AC wires and to the front of the board like the XLR cable. The XLR cable should not be routed so close to the transformer. Why is the input and speaker output right next to one another.

A cement block resistor seems to be active as a temperature sensor. There are better ways of doing this.

I would look for date codes on the components.
Now these are meaningful and insightful observations!

I just turned 52 but my physics/math background allowed me to be employed with the next new thing in software and high tech Machine learning and AI, usually at this age unless you are managing, you are considered layoff material. I was working for NGOs not for profit till age 33 meaning I was a volunteer, not paid to own or save, so I will not be retiring soon.

Happy 4th to the American GOFs that are still happy :D

I sepnt the day in bed, sick from heat again. Just up to eat and going back to ice cold now.

Sometimes there is a clue on the circuit board...I've even seen a company name and "Prototype XYZ" printed on boards before.

"Substrate Engineering." I can't get at it now to see any date codes.

Edit: Ha, didn't click post last night. Feeling somewhat better this morning...

Hey, bro, hope you're feeling better!

Was a fairly quiet day here, as much as the local a-holes with their fireworks would allow. Two of the side effects of a boomtown economy are extraordinary levels of disposable income, and high levels of morons buying low grade explosives, the two of which come together in July and New Years.

Some of these things sounded more like small field artillery than fireworks. That’s fine at 7PM, not so fine at 2AM...
