i have a couple horses. feed and clean every morning and night. full grooming two to three times a week. they are mares with white socks, so their back leds get a little stained from you know what, but a little bleach solution brings them back. and yes, they swim.

It takes dedication to keep up that sort of regime. You clearly love your horses.

I know that some mares can be skittish when you lift their tails to clean them back there.

Researchers have been working on small flying robots for planet exploration. This is old technology: https://ti.arc.nasa.gov/m/pub-archive/1071h/1071 (Bardina).pdf. They've come a long way since then, even capable of carrying small releaseable payloads. Kids are builting robots like this today. No telling what is being accomplished under DARPA.

Imagine thousands of probes that are tiny balls. They could roll or be blown by wind on the surface of a planet while collecting data. A larger scale of this was being developed decades ago. At the time it was soccer ball sized.

I know, do not touch certain regions.

I recall an incident years back where a horse and carriage downtown was sitting on a street waiting to pick up customers. The driver wasn’t in the carriage. Someone touched the horse back there, it got spooked and bolted. It ran several blocks causing damage to vehicles along the way. The carriage was destroyed. Nobody got hurt.

This really is the exception. Horses on downtown streets are very well trained and are pretty fearless with all the people, noise, and traffic.

One summer at my grandma's home in the country, many decades ago, a cousin my age and I were playing with "Tony" the pony, a very gentle animal. We both even learned the cowboy run-and-jump quick mount from behind. What fun!

That afternoon, at feeding time, I was eager to show grammaw what I had learned. So, I took off running and, as I slapped my hands on Tony's rump, my world view became very jumbled and chaotic! Then, while I picked myself up off the ground, my grammaw said, "Well, that's quite a buckin' bronco trick! I didn't know Tony could jump like that." I said, "Neither did I!"

Though it wasn't the first time my youthful showing off had been humiliated, I gained a new respect for Tony, and other animals and people, too. These days I reminisce with my cousins about our happy times at grammaw & Grandaddy's "camp in the woods", wondrous how we survived with no serious injuries, without any helicopter moms to protect us.

Going to be 104F today, planning on being very uncomfortable.
