Life is full of challenges. It’s how you deal with them that defines your character. Recognizing your failures is the fist step. Life is too short to hold onto negative things in life. Lift yourself above that. I promise that you will feel better.

There is a philosphy called Descartes Exercises that I find helpful.

At the end of each day, you meditate on the events of the day, identify where you failed, and examine how you could have better handled situations. Both in your actions and your thoughts. This helps you to be better prepared to deal with the challenges of the next day. It really works.

Be the one to extend your hand out.

I just tried meditating and I kept seeing a picture of Harry Connick, Jr. in my mind's eye...

Just kidding. Thank you beans. I will try that. I would like some deeper peace in my life.

Wish me luck, today we start with a different show "Legend of the American Mustang" which involves galloping a wild caught Mustang while at the same time ponying another horse next to me... all to music (with a good bass line) of course ;)

Best of luck, we know you'll kick... well, you know what!

My sweetheart makes a mean blueberry pie......I can't wait.......its good therapy picking berries for a couple hrs a day.......I've got 2 acres of grapes that are coming in next......we have a lot of deer and a couple of bears that like them too......

My wife (sweetheart) makes home-made white chocolate cheese cake. My favorite is with fresh blueberries and glaze. As city dwellers, we don't have to deal with bear and deer, just with fresh available at the store;).

white chocolate cheese cake sound delicious......we have 2 400 lb bears that come by and tear up my trashcans a couple times a month.....they are protected here.

Whoever is protecting them should be paying for bear-proofing your trash cans and property but, that's probably not PC nowadays...:bag:;).

With all due respect kind sir, there are @55holes in Sitka that bait the bears with food garbage, then they shoot the bears and post their pictures on FB. The problem is with humans, not the bears. None of this is directed to you.

Here's a couple things we do in Alaska. First, make sure anything fishy is first frozen and kept in your freezer until the day before garbage pickup. Second, make sure it's behind a fence of some sort. Most Alaskan bears could climb a fence easily but won't bother. You probably already know these things but I just wanted to share our experiences with you. I've done my tour of active combat duty but I won't kill a bear unless its on top of me or mine and threatening my life. This is only my opinion.

Will, I put smilies after my post to indicate that there was some degree of humor/sarcasm. I would never harm an animal unless it was threatening me or mine. Sorry it didn't come through that way.

We have black bears here and my land backs up to a National Park, so they pass through here all the time.....I've tried a lot of things to make them leave us alone.......putting clorox bleach on a towel on the top of the trash can seems to work the best......also a 12 gauge shotgun just to make a lot of noise works pretty well....I haven't had to shoot one yet, but we also have knuckleheads around here that do.

Berry season is here in Finland as well. I stripped the cherry tree off the bounty and wifey made some jam. We usually have some leftover to make pies and liqueur, but this season it has been so dry that the tree wasn't producing a whole lot. It has also been so dry and hot that blueberries have suffered. It's too hot to go pick. Rarely do we have a week of close to 30 C, but this summer is an exception. The dogs can do a walk in the morning but I have only taken them to walk a short route to relieve themselves in the afternoon. They are out in the pen all day.

This hunter-gatherer lifestyle of mine, whenever I am out of office, is justified now that the new season limits have been decided. Canada goose got 10 extra days, to shoot off reaped fields. The moose got 15 extra days in January. Whitetail deer got the same. (Whitetails were imported in the 1930s and have become a real nuisance. One community close by has over 1000 permits and not enough hunters so they sell permits to outsiders to come do their job for them.) What this means is the sustainable hunting practices have kept the population of the wildlife species in good shape and more culling is required to keep the new-growth forest damage in check and the traffic hazards at an acceptable level.

Thanks for resonating with my situation with regard my offspring. Luckily, my daughter (so far) has been an absolute angel.

Do horses handle that kind of heat well or do they get a little cranky?
They do pretty well, they live in these conditions though they may get a little sweaty and slimy and like to rub on you.
