Y’know Will, last evening we watched a NCSI New Orleans that featured micro drones. This is the second reference to them in less than 24 hours. We did have a couple of pretty low passes from a Chopper last night too.
And down here it's once/week in "winter" and every week in summer(our rainy season)

Thanks. All is good with Mrs. Blue, her Mom, and myself. Well, with the exception of my increasing aches and pains. Retirement doesn't always work out just like we pictured it. The good news is that I still have all of my basses, bass gear, and my PA. And the aches and pains so far don't affect my ability to play bass. I stubbornly hold out hope that I'll put my band back together someday (before I'm too old to perform). We will see.

OMG. This could have been my quote exactly. I'm not retired, but yeah, the aches and pains we never experienced when we were 30 somethings. Still have all my gear, stuff I really wish I had 30 years ago. Sometimes we had great bands but were shy on good gear, managed to always stay working though. Now I have great stuff and although I play with different people locally, some of the music wouldn't be my first choice.Thanks. All is good with Mrs. Blue, her Mom, and myself. I spend a lot of evenings playing along with YouTube. I miss my youth sometimes. Music was so good back then. But, we carry on, don't we...
Being a paranoid GOF I'm always suspicious of any out-of-the ordinary government activity. Twice this month we had extended stayovers by two fleets of V-22 Ospreys. The second time, a Lear jet flew in with the letters US Army on the side. Some pretty important guys got out and left in one of the Ospreys. This is little Sitka, Alaska for gosh sake!

I only wish YouTube had been around when I was younger...it's made me a much better musician by providing a music tutor for almost any song 24/7/365. And I agree 100%, whatever life throws at us these days we've learned to soldier on and make the best of it. Turns out older age has taught us a few things and given us some new gifts.I spend a lot of evenings playing along with YouTube. I miss my youth sometimes. Music was so good back then. I am going to disagree with this with every fiber of my existence. YouTube is a shortcut, essentially denying young and aspiring musicians from developing their own voices, their own ways of hard work = success. It makes everything easy. Just like tabs - no need to learn sight reading, music theory, just put your fingers on the colored dots.
The advent of shortcuts pretty well explains why music produced and performed today for the most part sucks..most people never paid their dues, hence don’t know how to actually do it.
And yes, there are exceptions

When teenager Eric Clapton started playing for John Mayall, Mayall made Clapton practice 8 hours a day listening to old records over and over again. There's woodshedding for ya. Now I can't wait to find out if I misspoke another interweb truism...
That’s what I’m saying...one on one, face to face. Personal interaction instead of looking at digital representation on a little screen, listening on earbuds. Sights in 3D, smells, complete immersion instead of whenever it’s convenient.

At one time, schools had music programs. Many don't any more. Same for typing, shop, and a lot of other practical things.
Kids that work in stores can't make change without a cash register telling them what to do.
