Love all that. I mixed a show one time in a tiny local club where Paul McCandless showed up with 9 horns. I had about 4 hours advance notice and this was ostensibly an Americana/Newgrass show. The segments he played on bass clarinet, especially, make for sweet lifetime memories. Miking any of those bass instruments is pretty interesting, but luckily Paul was on top of it and super easy to work with.
I played contrabass clarinet in my(2nd)senior year of high school. It looked like plumbing. Sorry, don't have a pic.

I think I saw Anthony Braxton playing one in NYC at the old Kool Jazz Festival.

Responding to roll call. Wife bought tickets to see Popeda. a local national act who celebrated their 40 years on the road by staging a concert at the town main sports arena, 28 000 listeners. 2,5 hours was a bit long for their typical show, and the encores were a bit flat. Today, my guitarist friend who had bought a summer house next to a lake near ours invited us over for coffee, so we took the outboard and went. My fiberglass outboard boat is new to me. I found out my motor won't bend back over toward the boatside. So, back home I changed the 8 hp outboard to a 5 hp one I also had lying around. This will work.

SO. Nothing much, which is good. Link to the Popeda band: Invalid Link Removed
Just got a listen this morning. Off until noon for a doc appt. Sounds great. I can't understand the lyrics. On my laptop still, so can't really hear the bass. I'll go back when I can with my stereo or studio headphones.

I'm not any good at posting pics unless they're in my files and even then..........

No worries, I know what most of them look like. A good friend of mine has been into horn repair for eons and he and his GF used to show up with various random ones for gigs pretty regularly back when we were all in the same band up in Seattle.

While your guys natter about blowing your own horns I am preparing to see my wonderful Chiropractor with the magic hands. She’s working to lessen the shaking in my hands. It’s so bad that soldering a wire to a PCB becomes an effort in getting the circles the PCB and iron tip are making to meld long enough to apply solder!
Good luck! Living with some pain is one thing (and not a good one), but having something affect your ability to do work or daily tasks is beyond frustrating for me.

OK. The shaking's not funny. Your description is.

I like your new avatar. Metaphorically, Shadow looking back to say goodbye before crossing the river.
Thanks Beans. On a light note. Something odd about that little pond. There is an area in one of our beach parks that is 99% of the time dry. But in the fall, and late spring, when there are heavy water storms, this body of water builds up in this one area in the park. It only gets about 6 inches deep. We call it Shadow's Pond because he loved walking in it and the water was very cold and fresh, and he would drink it for five minutes.

Wife is making rumbles about a puppy she heard about. GULP! Just when I thought we'd be animal free (except me) for a while! :wideyed:

The puppy needs a loving home. It really is true, looking after an animal makes us better people. Despite the relatively short time they have with us, we keep enriching ourselves with their presence. It’s all worth it.

Thank you. Agreed. Maybe Carey's heart will heal a little quicker if she has a pup to keep her busy.

I love that pic. She really reminds me of my brothers dog that we lost about a year ago. She lost her hearing her last few months, but I think that dog loved me more than his family :D They would put her out back on a runner, and she loved that, but I walked her pretty regularly. First time I walked her she obeyed my every command, except she was a bit reluctant to follow the gentle leash tugs when we got back in front of their house. I told my brother she must think I'm him from the voice commands, and he said something to the effect of, "Really? She never listens to me."

There is no cure for what ails both of you right now other than time, but a fresh pup and awfully close to a cure. Shadow would want to be "replaced" (to us of course, there is no real replacement). Chihuahua Phidaux (Fido) outlived Chihuahua Bubba-lou (aka Bubba), both modified females. So we got a Toy Fox pup, because Fido seemed to be giving up. She was arthritic and already had trouble with stairs. T-Bone, the Toy Fox (still with us), just sucked up to and loved Fido. T-Bone was a playful, gentle, yet fearless puppy. Two weeks later Fido left us. After making her a very nice sealed coffin lined with her favorite blanket, and laying her to rest (all with tears in my eyes), we both noticed T-bone started acting exactly like Fido. A little nervous and twitchy, bitey and barky. We were amazed. Up to now she seems a bit pissed off if we call her Fido, like she's trying to resist :D

I have a 16 apartment birdhouse, big feeder and bird bath. They think I'm the welfare department. They sing beautifully, unitil out of food, then they scream. I don't know how many hairless chicks I've scooped up. I get a ladder and find a nest that has chicks about the same size and stuff the baby in the hole. I had one jump into the wrong hole one time, an empty nest. So I went inside and watched from the window for a while... nothing. Back out, looked all over the ground, nothing, it didn't fall out. The mother got it back and it was in the nest in the hole I was aiming for. I counted.
