Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

Great song. We do it but not Nearly as soulfully.

They did a great job on the restoration. The song was released as a B side in May of 1962. A lot of good songs were released that year but it took some time to chart.

Bring It on Home to Me - Wikipedia

Interesting to see that the background voice is Lou Rawls. Tommy Tedesco, a top session man, was on guitar.

The song was loosely based on Charles Brown’s I Want To Go Home.

Charles Brown did the original, Please Come Home For Christmas.

Hey! Grumpys! We're back online! Thanks to the benevolence of the TB staff we can continue our camaraderie here. Hip, hip, hooray!

I hope everyone had some good Veterans Day(s), both actual and observed. I was traveling last week and most of the weekend, and it was truly heartwarming to see the outpouring of respect and gratitude almost everywhere I went. But, of course, there's no place like home, and my little town really does it up nice for such patriotic holidays. My only regret was missing the festivities in town.

Heck, anybody can find stuff to grump about. But, it'll do your heart good to find stuff to be thankful for. After all, if I recall correctly, Canada just celebrated one of those days, and the U.S. is soon to celebrate another one. I, for one, am glad to get to see them, again.

Thank you @Pacman for restoring our little corner of the universe. I also point out the many of us do contribute to other threads, I for one love bass, amps, and luthiers threads and read/respond often.

From this point on for me: I DO NOT want to ever see any political discussion on this thread again. Even if you make veiled reference to politics, YOU'RE NOT THAT CLEVER, everyone knows you're breaking the rules. If you can't follow this very clear rule, LEAVE THE THREAD. This thread has been thankfully resurrected AGAIN due to the kindness of the moderator. DON'T ABUSE IT.

It wouldn't hurt for us to actually discuss bass related subjects, which is what this thread is all about. I have plenty to say about the amps I use, my basses, and I have plenty of questions concerning effects, strings, lutherie, and so on. So let's pick it up a bit, shall we guys?

Lastly, if there are warnings about this thread, I highly recommend that if you have to contact the moderator, that you do it IN A RESPECTFUL MANNER. You are grown people, stop acting like children and calling moderators offensive names. I've learned through communications that some of our members feel entitled to crap on the moderators and talk about being paying members, etc. If you don't have something constructive to say, DON'T SAY IT. HOW MANY TIMES DOES THIS THREAD HAVE TO CLOSE BEFORE WE LEARN THESE LESSONS? SHAPE UP, GOF'S, AND BEHAVE. I happen to like this thread and members, I'd like to see it stay open.

Thank you and have a great day.

Will

Guy just a note, the best way to keep this thread open long term is to report posts that break rules, NOT engage them which often turns it into page long issues which make the thread way less likely to stay old.
Thank you @Bob Clayton . Excellent point. I am not shy to report an offender. I've seen this great thread closed too many times, only to be re-opened due to the kindness of the moderators.

GOF's don't get me wrong. I'm not a snitch. I want to see the thread survive.

I want to say one more time, thank you @Pacman for re-opening the thread. It means a lot to me.

Amen to that, bro ALB. This thread has come to mean a lot to me, too, even as a relatively newer GOF than some here, though older than some, as well.

Best wishes for your Mom's continued recovery, BadExample.

Hmmm, I don't know but what Mr. agedhorse might be bound by confidentiality agreements to not spread rumors. [Edit] And to stay Off Topic, maybe we better not discuss anything music related, either[/Edit]

This Off-Topic forum comes with a set of unique rules:

=-=-=-=OFF TOPIC FORUM RULES: READ BEFORE YOU POST=-=-=-=

Gun, Gun Control, And Weapons Used For Violence Threads Are No Longer Permitted Here

Note Paul’s (TB owner) post: no discussion of music that belongs somewhere else. I assume that this extends to music videos, amps, cabs, bass, song writing, lyrics, what songs your band plays, and playing in general.

This forum is for non-music-related discussion. Any discussions regarding music, even if it doesn’t pertain to the bass, '''belong in another forum'''. If no other forums fit your music-related thread, it belongs in Miscellaneous[BG] and not in Off Topic[BG].

Hmmmmm . . . . This new location may be tougher to fit in than I thought! But, it's worth trying, to keep the band, er, ... uh, ... not the band, um, ... the group together. Phew! That was close.

I was wondering the same thing. There were music discussions going on just a few messages up this very page before it was shut down, so now I'm confused on what is legal discourse here now and what isn't. I don't want to sound like I'm criticizing the management and get banned, but a little clarity on the rules where we now exist would make it easier for us to stay away from forbidden words and topics. This is the friendliest, most welcoming and supportive thread (or forum) I've ever seen, with a community of outstanding people, and it would be a shame to have it shut down over simple misunderstandings.

Agreed. It would be nice if one of the moderators gave us a quick rundown of exactly what we are allowed to discuss.
