I don't think wife Carey has near that many commands for me!
We just watched Alpha the movie, while it was fiction, it was very enjoyable. Even the grandkids could watch that one. The time went by so fast so it must have been good.... Thumbs up.

Sweet, thanks very much. The KiCad project itself added a whole slew of new ones a little while back (KiCad Libraries), and I've been using the last release candidate before v5.0 for a few months now. Looks like they released 5.0 recently, time to take it for a spin. The biggest downside I've seen so far is limited backward compatibility, but at least most of my custom footprint libraries still work fine once you jump through some hoops to install them.
Libraries and searching through them are the most time consuming part for me.
I create a custom libraries organized with commonly used parts but I usually have to search out some new components. The part sellers are getting way better at supplying library entries for what they sell.
I still use Eagle but since AutoDesk has bought the platform, it’s been improving by leaps and bounds.

I had to install a new version of Eagle recently to help find a problem with the licensed onboard preamp design I just wrapped up. Someone else was handling the all SMD board layout (my protos were all hybrid) and final production will hopefully be his baby. Still a pretty big time suck, but I got it done in an afternoon and was lucky enough to be able to rework his proto board without any specialized tooling. I see no reason the throw money at AutoDesk right now, but I was impressed by what I saw, for sure.

So much for my best laid plans. I got up this morning and nothing was happening in the sky so I went to work. I got to the job site around 6 A M. About a half hour after I got to the job a freekin blizzard hit. Job site was 85 miles from the house. About 10 o'clock I started hearing reports that the highway back to my house was virtually shut down. Thirty miles of dead stop traffic. These reports went on all day. I was hearing of some folks that had been stuck in it for over 6 hours. Seahag (my lovely wife) and Bearbait (my daughter) both work for the school system and schools were closed today. Seahag went over and picked up Bearbait and brought her back to the house. They enjoyed the vodka , rum , tomato juice and sodas. I ended up working a 15 1/2 hour shift and finally made it home around 11 P M. The only good thing about all of this is I got 2 days work done and don't have to go in tomorrow. A drink would be nice right about now but I'm beat. I'm going to bed.
You don't need to learn any fingering, it's all lip. Try holding all three valves down. I believer this will give you the lowest "key" and makes it easiest to play. I started out on trumpet in the fourth grade and switched to tuba in high school. That's what got me hooked on the low end. Every Veterans and Memorial Day I start a couple or three weeks ahead of time bringing my bugle in the car when I commute. By the holiday I have enough lip to play. When my dad passed, the Army sent an "honor guard" to his burial. They used an electronic bugle. I was not amused. Had I known, I would have volunteered to play my dad's bugle.
Edit: It's only four notes. It's all about placement and duration...

That’s how I’m doing it, but I paused learning until I can find a teacher. I wanted to learn bugle, but the people I talked with at Bugels Across America and elsewhere strongly recommended the trumpet instead. I picked up a used Olds Ambassador, but I really need that expert input.
Some of the trumpet players I work with in the concert band carry their mouthpiece and do lip exercises driving or just sitting around w/o digging out the horn.
I've developed some pain in the thumb of my fretting hand. Off to get a lesson from a pro on Monday. Hope he finds something or else I am off to the doc and hope it's not "too many birthdays"...

Nope, I use my right hand for the mouse.
I find that these gel hand exercisers can help when I have pains or want to work on strength or circulation.
Attention all GOF's Front and Center... Report in that all fingers toes, appendages accounted for. This weekend is about rest for Carey and me. I didn't realize how taxing it was to take care of a house, buy groceries, keep the place clean, pay bills, and make it look easy like Carey does. She's an amazing lady. I told her I would never take for granted for all the things she does to make our little place tick like a well tuned clock.
I'm kind of weary nowadays. Lots of fall activities but nothing planned. Sometimes I feel overwhelmed even just getting basic things done at home, and sometimes at work. When Carey is better I want to sneak off to Seattle for a weekend by myself. Go see the Experience Museum and Boeing Field Museum. This whole process with Carey has been a long road and I foresee it going through Christmas. But I'm so glad she will be better than she was when she's completely healed!
Ordering a new Eden EX110 for my living room practice. I received an Amazon gift card for just enough to buy the cabinet. I've been learning more songs, hoping to get our 80's tribute band off the ground again, but it seems everyone gets busy with family around these holidays.

We’ll be staying in town this weekend, running errands. We got hit by a lot of snow. First snowfall of the season. Slippery roads, traffic has been crazy.
Been building a Neve 1073 mic/line preamp and EQ. This weekend I have some sheetmetal work to do on a purchased 1U rack case. Need a dummy cover plate for an IEC power outlet cutout and install a Neutrik five pin XLR in the plate. That will be for an external +24 +48 power supply.

Went to the hand surgeon on Wednesday because I thought I was either developing arthritis, have a bone spur or a case of trigger finger. Turns out I was right on all 3 counts and all in one finger. The only one they can treat at this point is the trigger finger (officially called Stenosing tenosynovitis) so I got a cortizone shot in the knuckle. Boy, that'll make your eyes water!
