I've developed some pain in the thumb of my fretting hand. Off to get a lesson from a pro on Monday. Hope he finds something or else I am off to the doc and hope it's not "too many birthdays"....

I’ve seen people getting pains in various fingers because of the way that they use their computer mouse. Any possible relation there?

Not for me, but I've got stiffness in my 'bird' finger on my left most likely from the way I held the steering wheel when I drove 18 wheelers. Shifting a 9, 10, or 13 speed tranny with the right.

I find that these gel hand exercisers can help when I have pains or want to work on strength or circulation.

Went to the hand surgeon on Wednesday because I thought I was either developing arthritis, have a bone spur or a case of trigger finger. Turns out I was right on all 3 counts and all in one finger. The only one they can treat at this point is the trigger finger (officially called Stenosing tenosynovitis) so I got a cortizone shot in the knuckle. Boy, that'll make your eyes water!

Yikes! That sounds like no fun at all.

Attention all GOF's Front and Center... Report in that all fingers toes, appendages accounted for. This weekend is about rest for Carey and me. I didn't realize how taxing it was to take care of a house, buy groceries, keep the place clean, pay bills, and make it look easy like Carey does. She's an amazing lady. I told her I would never take for granted for all the things she does to make our little place tick like a well tuned clock.

I'm kind of weary nowadays. Lots of fall activities but nothing planned. Sometimes I feel overwhelmed even just getting basic things done at home, and sometimes at work. When Carey is better I want to sneak off to Seattle for a weekend by myself. Go see the Experience Museum and Boeing Field Museum. This whole process with Carey has been a long road and I foresee it going through Christmas. But I'm so glad she will be better than she was when she's completely healed!

Ordering a new Eden EX110 for my living room practice. I received an Amazon gift card for just enough to buy the cabinet. I've been learning more songs, hoping to get our 80's tribute band off the ground again, but it seems everyone gets busy with family around these holidays.

Gig on Saturday night(1 of 2 this month-should be lots more ). This is an annual Finnish gala in Lake Worth,FL. It turns out that Lake Worth has the highest population of Finns of any city not in Finland, at least during the winter.

Will you be playing standing or sitting? The shoulder weight can take a toll, especially since it's one sided.

I find that a stretchy neoprene strap helps with back issues when playing a heavier instrument such as my PBass.

B.E. HERE SIR! All appendages here and seem as functional as they were last week.

Wow, I somehow missed about 2 pages of GOFdom here. I did work late the last couple of nights. Got up at 0900 and trying to get coffee into my brain as I club away at the keyboard. Today we are going to see my mom at her home an hour away. I called yesterday and her voice seemed so much stronger, happier and more like herself again. Thanks a million for all the GOF thoughts and prayers along the way.

Weekends are the only time I get a good full nights sleep. Sunday night to Thursday night I'm lucky if I get 4 or 5 hours of good sleep per night. I think the warden is just cutting me some slack knowing that...

Been building a Neve 1073 mic/line preamp and EQ. This weekend I have some sheetmetal work to do on a purchased 1U rack case. Need a dummy cover plate for an IEC power outlet cutout and install a Neutrik five pin XLR in the plate. That will be for an external +24 +48 power supply.

Cool. Are you using one of the usual suspect DIY board suppliers or rolling your own?

New Amp Day - VOX VX50BA

I will be sitting for rehearsal, and in between songs, especially during prayers. But I think I can stand while playing the 3 songs without too much distress. I have a very nice 3" wide leather strap on the Pbass Special that spreads the load real well. I do appreciate the advice and concern, very much, though.

I vacillated a lot over this one. My initial intent was to get into 500 series modules. Start by building a 500 series 1073 pre and EQ in another slot, mounted in an API 10 slot rack (500PVR) with external power supply. I was looking at the Carnhill mic line and output transformers that Neve uses. Audio Maintenance is the distributor. While looking at the transformers on their site, I took a close look at their kits.

Looking at the costs of going with 500 series vs a rack unit, I concluded that the 500 series is more cost effective in the long run but the initial layout is higher. So I decided to go with their EZ1073 1U kit (Kits, schematic in the assembly guide).
