There’s a port within walking distance of where I live. In order to control the seagull population they introduced some perrigrin falcons. They set up some nice nesting areas on top of buildings for them.

The seagulls fly in groups like schools of fish, the falcons fly over top hunting them. The gulls are after swarms of bugs and small fish in the port. When in danger, the seagulls let out a scream of terror like I’ve never heard them make. The falcons dive into the flock and pick off the seagulls. They are amazing fast when they are hunting.

Been digging Blue Cheer lately.

Very cool! Raptors are my favorite birds. Even have a couple tattooed on me.

If I remember correctly, Blue Cheer used to bill themselves as the loudest band on planet Earth. I’m not sure about other planets.

Cheer laundry detergent was known for it's blue crystals. Blue Cheer was a very pure form of LSD made by Owsley Stanley. He was the sound man for the Greatful Dead and developed their wall of sound PA system. He also bank rolled the band to get them started.

Since the band Blue Cheer was into acid rock and loud, the name fit.

My pleasure. I'm definitely a PMJ fan. They have quite a few videos on YouTube and they tour quite a bit. They seem to be a rotating group of musicians, like Snarky Puppy (another great group to check out). Scott Bradlee, the amazingly versatile piano player and arranger, is the driving force behind it and the only constant member, though Adam Kubota, the bass player is also in most of the videos. They always feature really talented musicians, great singers, and is almost always tongue in cheek. Sara Niemietz is an incredible singer and has quite a few videos of her own.

I had no idea it's that sort of collective.My exposure had mostly been vids of Gunhild Carling, who had been working a similar vein for quite a few years before the PMJ crew "discovered" her.

Yeah, she's pretty amazing in her own way, but combining her with PMJ is great. Beside the high levels of talent and versatility around PMJ, I really like that it's all done in a spirit of fun, with no one taking themselves too seriously.
Snarky Puppy is different in that their music is mostly original instrumentals, but the musicianship is amazing and you can tell they're really enjoying themselves. It's another rotating collective, this one lead by Michael League, who is a damn good bassist. How can you not enjoy a group lead by the bassist?
He said in an interview that everyone is expected to learn *all* the parts to the songs, because they like to change arrangements and instrumentation on the fly and the songs may be way different from one performance to the next.

Certainly can't argue with his choices. Casady, Bruce and Entwhistle were the biggest influences on me. It just occurred to me that they all are/were named John. Wonder if that means anything.

Long story short...

Both my wife and I are in the hospital. Wife was rushed to the ER with colon issues Sunday night. While we were in the ER, I passed out (twice) with heart issues. Both of us were admitted.

Both of us have had more medical tests than anyone should have to endure.

We are both on the same floor but in different rooms.

It is so much fun being old!

Geddy is hippy gasomatic. Dude needs to send out recordings/vids of the tone off between a/b differences on them '60-'72 Fender J's. NOW, he's trying out other basses after 40 years. Collector, indeed.

Well boys, it looks like I may only be around here another 2 weeks. I was just informed that we're hosting the family Christmas gathering at our house this year.
That means that by this time 2 weeks from now I could be locked up for attempted and/or full homicide. The up side is, I could get drunk before the relatives show up, but the down side is that it'll probably get me the maximum sentence.
Maybe I can talk my grandson into tying me up in the basement.
Or I can go to feed the deer in the woods and get lost until everyone leaves.
But then my wife will be mad at me for not taking her with me.
