Dec. is moving month for us. We'll be camping out with our daughter's family for awhile. I can be a nice GOF for awhile..Seriously, we spend so much time with them anyways, it'll be fine. Famous last words...

Busy, busy. Downsizing is like a new job.:lock: Fortunately it will be over soon. Onward and upward. Infinity and beyond...

Good luck and don't forget to "smile"!

I remember back to the best Christmas we had. The previous Christmas we were expected at four family gatherings in two days. By the end of it we were all fried, so we made plans for the next Christmas. When the time came we told my wife's family that we were going to see my family, and told my family that we were going to see her family, and we stayed home. It was the first time our kids had a chance to just hang out at home an enjoy the holiday.

We did something similar a few years later on Thanksgiving. We told everyone we had other plans and decided that we'd all go out to eat and go to a movie. We hit a snag when we couldn't find any restaurants open, so we went to Meijers and bought donuts and pigged out in the car on the way to the movies. We couldn't find a movie that everyone wanted to see, so my daughter and I went to a Star Trek movie and my wife and son went to see 1001 Dalmatians. To this day it was my daughters favorite holiday of all time. She takes after me.

Good for you for thinking up those ones! Spreading yourselves too thin is 100% bad for you, only 25% each for the other four family gatherings. Immediate family deserves more time together.

Not bad for an 87 year old GOF. Time passes. Walter Koenig is 82, Nichelle Nichols is 85, George Tekei is 81. Patrick Stewart is 78.

I met Walter Koenig once. I helped him get on the secure wi-fi connection where I worked. He was there with one of the ad agencies for some kind of commercial shoot. Super nice guy. Got to meet some cool people on that job.

You let Bester access your files at work?!?!?

My Christmas party is with my bride Carey with the doors locked, front porch light off, phones turned off, turkey dinner and "It's a Wonderful Life" on TV!

New Year's party? Watching the NY ball drop at 8:00 AST, and falling asleep shortly after in our recliners!
NYE gig w/ 15 piece big band. Then 50 mile drive home.:(

The trouble with big bands is that you have to split the cash too many ways.

There’s always the option of paying the drummer less. Some have caught on to that, they become the band leader to ensure that they get paid. Then there’s paying horn players by the note.
Well, BL told me what the job paid(me). I don't really care what the total is as long as I get what was promised. The venue has $$$.

I met him once also at one of those Trekker conventions. I won a bunch of stuff doing my impersonations. This was back when I was doing stand-up so I got to do some of my act for a HUGE crowd. Went over pretty well...
So far my only impersonation is of a bass player.:bag:
