Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

I'm glad my kids are old enough now where they actually get what it means to work your ass off and struggle and deal with responsibilities.

I played music and of course worked while raising my girls. I couldn't ask a kid or teen to get off the phone, go outside and play, do your homework, and find and develop a personal interest if I didn't demonstrate it. :)

I sent my girls on a virtual "Freedom" shopping spree.
Worked like a charm when they found out how much it costs to keep a safe dry roof over your head, plus car, utilities, insurance etc.

$5000.00 per month before taxes and deductions, without room mates, spouse, mooching off parents.

So as a full time pro musician, or any other job, you'd have to earn $1250.00 per week per man to live self sufficiently.

Only as a musician, you've got all those home fort costs in addition to hotel rooms and other travel expenses because you have to follow the work.

No question that you have to love the life to be a musician. A lot of people work the summer festivals and then look for non seasonal jobs and or go on unemployment insurance during the winter.

At oldies shows when you see folks in the audience bobbing their heads, I sometimes wonder if they are head bangers or just nodding off.

Yesterday I was in a MOOD! I was trying to coordinate elfin magic and my girls weren't returning calls or e-mails, texting when they know I've got a dumb phone, or taking days to get back to me when I needed a quick answer. Grrrrrrr!

Then my oldest sent me this..

Merry Christmas! :-)
