Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

Had to come back to the good ol' USA for minor but painful prostate (of course) surgery. Missed Christmas and New Years with my family, then spent 4 days worrying about them with no communication after a small typhoon knocked out power back in the Philippines for that time.
Can't wait to get back home and back into my studio having fun. Recently hooked up with the drummer from 40 years ago and the keyboard player who I have maintained a close friendship with all these years. The drummer has a small record company now. We hope to record something together through the miracle of the internet this year.
The "Out To Lunch" group rides again!

Grump report: The bug seems to be getting around, worldwide: My father is in hospital and I have this hacking cough... the phlegm is loosening very slowly and I can't get on the ski tracks. Well, the puppy keeps me company inside as a welcome relief.

Just in case...

I'm getting ready to start two back to back projects that will be over a year of 60+ hour weeks. I've given up any notion of ever getting to retire. The best I can hope for is stay in good enough health to keep working to keep my union medical plan going so I can stay in good enough health to keep working....{sigh}

Yikes!!! A lot of us will be there with you, soon. Used to think that the Golden Years meant false teeth, playing bridge, and listening to Lawrence Welk. Glad I was wrong. Turns out you only have to grow up if you want to. Even the Soundgarden & Linkin Park dudes are looking old, but are still getting with it. We're still the same people, but with feather-weight equipment added.

One big bonus with age: you can quit taking crap from anyone. I can take a whiz on the side of the interstate while I look the trooper in the eye, saying, "I can't help it. I'm old."

I've been dog sitting Cozy, since Thursday, while neighbors went to Florida.
Last two nights got down to -21 C with 40 MPH winds.
Yesterday noonish, I thought I had her leash buckled but it was just on her coat.
She got loose, fortunately with coat on and I finally caught her at 3:00AM when she finally crashed on the bed I had put on the front porch.
Still was scary because it really was brutal cold out.
Cozy has a newly revived appreciation for my warm sofa under a blanket.

Missing teeth are cute on small children... not so much on an old bastid like me. :D

Feel sorry for all the folks in the cold areas of the US...

I officially retired as of December 31st and I already got my first football from the kids across the street. I told them 3 times in one day to keep the ball out of my yard. Finally, I said if it comes into my yard again, it's mine. So, when it did come in the yard again, I walked outside, picked up the ball and said, Thanks!!

I gave it back to the kids Dad the next day.

I hear you guys. Retirement is not like in the movies. In fact, for some of us it's out of the question. My fellow workers have been forewarned - when I go, it'll be on the job...and somebody's going to be doing a whole lotta paperwork.

On the other hand, we could start thinking out of the box on this retirement thing. Keyword: Ecuador.

On the up side, my youngest has already been accepted for a career internship position in her field of study before she graduates this spring.
She has to work with a licensed architect for 2 years for her final certifications, but her test bid presentation blew her boss's mind!

6" of snow on top of a half inch of ice in Tennessee. Saw cars doing things that only looked possible in a Poltergeist movie. Heading for below zero record lows Wednesday night. Tee shirts and shorts will not be optional.
